Mario shirt and stickers designed by Gabe Swarr, to be given away exclusively at tonight’s Nintendo DSi launch event in Universal CityWalk (Hollywood).
Gabe Swarr — who has worked on a number of cartoons you might recognize, such as ¡Mucha Lucha! and Dexter’s Laboratory — will join two other I Am 8-Bit artists, John Pham and Matt Furie, and give away 600 of the above shirts at the gala. 1000 sticker packs, which include Swarr’s Mario/Bowser/Goomba/Cheep Cheep decal, will also be passed out to attendees.
Additionally, the three artists will sign and customize posters like this one, a charming piece depicting Nintendo cosplayers, from Mario in Kuribo’s Shoe to Pikmin, at the Universal CityWalk DSi launch (click for full image):
As great as this poster is, Swarr will make it even better by drawing DSi launch attendees into the 100 copies that he’ll be giving away. Pham and Furie will also give out 100 of their own posters.
Gamers who won’t be able to procure those but still want something personal to take home (besides a DSi) can have their photo taken with hand-made props from Nintendo franchises in “a life-sized Mushroom Kingdom,” created by Scott Belcastro (click for full image):
