Custom White Game Boy Pocket (click for a larger image). Now, my love for the limited edition, Japan-only White Game Boy is old and well documented, but this simple mod, this stirring in my heart, is new and unfamiliar.
Though I’ve seen several sites mention that a White Game Boy Pocket existed (either available only in Japan or shown of as a prototype), I don’t think I’ve ever seen one. Marcus Tegtmeier sanded this system down to give the front a smooth finish before painting it white. I hope that paint didn’t damage the d-pad/buttons…
In related news, remember that Game Boy modified to play GBA carts? CRTdrone made another one and listed it on eBay, throwing in a dock for its rechargeable battery (pulled from a GBA SP, like all the other internals).

“The new Game Boy Pocket. Seriously distracting.”
Nintendo’s advertising agency Leo Burnett ran this mature-targeted Game Boy Pocket ad in Loaded, FHM, and Viz, reasoning that it fit those UK magazines’ audiences.
Several readers complained, however, and said the girl looked terrified and held against her will — Nintendo wanted to convey her frustration over her partner ignoring their bedroom bondage activities to play Tetris.
The Advertising Standards Authority asked Nintendo to remove the ads from future issues, and described the company as irresponsible for implying the restrained woman was “subjugated and humiliated”. Isn’t that what sadomasochism is about?

This is pretty fantastic! Apparently, the group was flown to Chicago (Leo Burnett HQ probably) about 13 years ago to play with the systems and record the commercial. This reminds me of Paul Rudd’s Super Nintendo commercial, except awesomer, because the Michaels are fab.
My wife and I finally listened to Showalter’s Sandwiches & Cats album while driving around last weekend, and though it wasn’t that great (surprising, considering how hilarious his stand-up is), I’ve had this obscene sentence from his “Erotica” story stuck in my head since: “At this one certain point, my big loaf of bread accidentally slips inside her oven mitt, and we start making poundcake, kid.”
