DS/3DS Release Dates & Sales // Tiny Cartridge Stickers For Your Games!

“Rubber Hard Cover” and “Multi-Soft Pouch,” part of Gametech’s +Palette line. These are definitely the nicest looking silicone game system covers I’ve ever seen!

Both the cover and the pouch come in way more colors than I’ve included here — a subset of the colors that the other +Palette accessories come in, so you can coordinate everything.

In Japan, the covers cost ¥1050 ($13.52), and the cases cost ¥880 ($11.33). I haven’t seen them at any import retailers as of yet.

Mokudigi Wood Grip for PSP-3000, by Gametech. Give your PSP a touch of class with this controller grip accessory made of real mahogany for some reason. What, do you want your hand to rest on plastic? How ghastly. It just isn’t done.

With an appreciation for the finer things with which to hold your PSP, comes an appreciable price — ¥13,800 ($179). That’s almost as much as a PSP itself, but it’s a small price to pay, considering the alternative of vulgarly gripping the PSP’s own body.

Double USB Charger by Gametech. This simple device is just a box with 4 AA batteries in it, and two USB ports on the side. It comes with a bunch of adapters so it can be used to charge the iPhone, 3DS, PSP, and various DSes.

And when you aren’t charging two items at once, it collapses into a tiny little rectangular box. Kind of a nice design!

Little AC Adapter by Gametech, for 3DS and PSP. For the next “Plus Palette” accessory, Gametech made this unexpected accessory, a small AC adapter that can be used to charge PSP, 3DS, DSi, and DSi XL, and includes a USB cable so you can charge them from a computer. I say “unexpected” because you don’t really think of the power cord as something that could be made pretty.

These were released in Japan on August 30 for ¥1,890 ($25) each. Man, the exchange rate is terrible right now. Speaking of the exchange rate, I’m flying to Japan in less than a week. I will be the brokest.

3DS covers by WaSaBi, GameTech’s “traditional Japan” inspired accessory line. At ¥2,520 ($33) each, these might be — like all WaSaBi accessories — a pricey way to decorate your 3DS, but, um, at least the 3DS part will be cheaper soon…

Gametech has quickly built up a decent selection of WaSaBi accessories for 3DS, and as a reminder, it ships worldwide.

This week, Gametech also released a really nice looking DS/3DS card case in its Plus Palette line. These coordinate with the other Plus Palette accessories, and include a matching screen cleaner.

New DSi and DSi XL covers from Gametech’s WaSaBi line. These are all polycarbonate covers overlaid with Japanese-style fabric, and all cost between ¥3,150 ($39) and ¥3,570  ($44). Which is, yes, really expensive for a case for now-outdated hardware.

Gametech also announced new cases featuring the same fabrics for iPhone 4 and iPad.

Gametech’s Plus Palette accessories for 3DS. The “Semihard Pouch” and “Canal Earphone” come in such fancy-sounding colors as “Sunset Orange,” “Chocolate Pink” and “Yellow Leaf.” My favorites include the Famicom-colored “Snow White” and the grey/white “Graphite Grey.” If you ever wanted to coordinate your game system case and cheap earbuds, there’s likely a pair for you!

The cases sell in Japan for ¥980 ($12) each, and the headphones sell for ¥1,280 ($15).

Preorder: Nintendo 3DS (March 27, $249.99)

New “Irodori” DSi LL skins by WaSaBi. My favorite line of game system decorations announced a huge refresh of its product line, including dozens of new designs for DS, DSi, DSi LL, iPhone 4, PSP 3000, etc. I highlighted these because they’re so different — they’re designs from the Choju-jinbutsu-giga, I believe. There’s also now a set of straps, with patterns on the fabric. They sell for around 1200 yen each.

Gametech will happily sell these things to US-based shoppers. The DSi LL skins above are $12.99 each.

Wooden 'Mokudigi' accessories now available in US →

Gametech has started selling its “Mokudigi” line of wooden handheld cases and console stands internationally, with the adorable tagline “Warmth of Wood for Digital.” If you want an extraordinarily classy case for your DS, PSP, or iPhone, and you are willing to pay crazy bucks for one, you can order now!

How crazy are those bucks? How about $160 for a DS Lite case? Or $90 for a Wii stand? The craziest of bucks. Oh, and you can have it engraved for an extra $10.

I think for that kind of money, I’d just plant a tree in my backyard, put my DS on the ground, and hope the tree grows around it. But I do enjoy looking at these on the internet!

Gametech’s See Through Pouch for PSP and DS. For the particularly neurotic among us who must know at all times if they remembered to pack their DS and games. Something like this makes the frequent bag-checking a lot easier. Not that I know anybody like that, or am anybody like that.

Okay, maybe it’s more for people who like nice, clean-looking accessories. Both the PSP and DS versions will be available (in Japan) in four different colors on August 5, for ¥1,470 ($17ish).

Wooden PS3 and Wii stands, and iPhone cases. If you like the woodgrain look of vintage consoles like the Atari 2600, and want to add that kind of look to your modern systems (in real wood), these mahogany accessories by Gametech are for you. They’re a collaboration between the all-wood Mokudigi and traditional Japanese design-based WaSaBi lines.

This much class in your console support structure comes at a price: the PS3 stand is ¥6,300 ($73), the Wii stands are ¥10,500 ($121) each, and the iPhone cases come in at a painful ¥11,550 ($133). Wooden Mokudigi accessories without the extra decoration can be had for quite a bit cheaper, though still well beyond the “reasonable for a Wii stand” range.

Decoling” accessories for DS Lite, DSi, PSP, iPhone, and iPod nano (not pictured). Gametech, the company famous (on this website) for its WaSaBi accessory line, has introduced a new line of cases to give your handhelds a “gothic lolita” look — or, to put it another way, an “every square inch of surface area is covered with fake flowers/candy/gems/skulls/lace” look.

Normally, I have to specify that this kind of stuff is for Japan only, but Gametech will ship worldwide. If you’ve got $30-$40 budgeted for making your DS, PSP, or iPhone look ridiculous, you can totally get yourself some Decoling gear.
