“8-Bit Bikini” by Glen Brogan (click for a larger image). Anyone who has any familiarity with Metroid will recognize this scene as the ending screen players receive after completing the game within a certain time limit.

My favorite detail in this artwork has nothing to do with the heroine or her swimsuit; it’s the floating 3D text above her, which I feel is the essential feature that conveys the piece’s idea of an illustrated Samus dropped into an 8-bit game. The suggestion that her suit’s shoulder spheres are designed to shelter her hair is kind of funny, too.

“Mario’s Closet” by Glen Brogan. I hope he picks Kuribo’s shoe! Before you point out any outfits missing from the plumber’s wardrobe, refer to this note from Brogan:

“I wanted to include as many of his power-ups as possible, but the main rule I had to follow was that I couldn’t include things that actually transform Mario himself rather that just changing his wardrobe, like the Boo mushroom from Mario Galaxy that turns him into a ghost. So I’ve mentally prepared myself for the barrage of ‘OMG WHY DIDNT U INCLUDE THIS 1 ON THERE U R DUM.’”

“Merchandise Fighter II” by Glen Brogan. I hadn’t seen this shirt before, but Brogan posted the design in November, so I’m guessing the shirt’s been around for a while. Even if it’s way old news, I think it’s extraordinarily cute.

It’s hard to pick favorites among the World Warrior goods, but I might actually have to make some Ken and Ryu shakers.
