CubeDudes set by Pierre Import. I’ve seen a lot of these CubeDudes around lately, mostly Angus MacLane’s work, but few of the Lego Figures match Import’s Goemon masterpiece, which I would proudly display on my bookshelf. That’s saying a lot considering I’ve so far managed to keep my office toy-free, with the exception of my Maxwell Box Boy.

While this doesn’t look like a direct adaptation of Konami’s Goemon games, the movie is based Ishikawa Goemon, the same 16th century ninja/bandit/folk hero that Legend of the Mystical Ninja took its inspiration from. So, feel free to use this as an excuse to download the wonderful SNES game from Wii’s Virtual Console!
As you can probably tell from the familiar style and CG effects, Kazuaki Kiriya, the Japanese director behind Casshern, is heading this project. The film is expected to release in March 2009 (presumably in Japan?).
