Haggleman” by Kogura. Despite the title of the piece, Retro Game Challenge’s clockwork ninja is relegated to the background in favor of a chibi Koume.

By the way, if you don’t have Retro Game Challenge, now’s a great time to buy it! XSEED could decide that that one last copy is enough to justify a localization of Game Center CX 2, just in time to make a rushed announcement at E3. Worst case scenario: you end up with a copy of Retro Game Challenge.

Robot Ninja Haggleman fanart by Mike Westfall.

We’ll leave no stone unturned and no door unflipped until we corral every piece of Haggleman fanart scattered across this Earth — as well as art hidden on alternate dimension Earths, or even on distant replicas of Earth copied by advanced alien races who’ve pirated our resources and cultures because they were too cheap to purchase and enslave/mine the real thing.

That is how serious we are about our Robot Ninja Haggleman fanart. Don’t get it twisted.

Buy: Retro Game Challenge ($17.99 —cheaper than ever!)

“Koume-chan” by Kobayashikei. This fanart of Haggleman’s sister is going to inspire me to get out Retro Game Challenge once again — a prospect which sounds perfectly wonderful to me.

I feel like this is closely imitating the style of something familiar, but at the moment I don’t know what. Won’t somebody point it out and make me feel like an idiot?

Guadia Quest button. Benjamin White, the Retro Game Challenge evangelist who has bravely offered free Haggleman buttons to people who purchase new copies of the game, made this cross-stitched button of the Guadia Quest hero for a RGC buyer, “because he asked so nicely—and because truth be told I’m a little tired of stitching one Haggle Man after the other”.

If you prefer this to the Haggleman design(s), Benjamin is happy (“Hell, I’d appreciate the chance to look at another color for a while”) to make you one of these in appreciation of your RGC purchase. Or in appreciation of your direct $5 payment!

That reminds me, I still need to buy a Haggleman button!

[Thanks for pointing this out, Kobold!]

“Kacho WAN!” by Shinato. Game Center CX’s Shinya Arino makes for a pretty cute cartoon dog.

I probably should have led with this one instead of the cartoon dog picture, but oh well here’s some amazing Haggleman and Koume fanart from Mokichi:

“Hit Haggleman” by Bill Mudron.

On the topic of this endearing robot hero, there’s one detail I neglected to note about Benjamin White’s Robot Ninja Haggle Man button giveaway. If you already purchased a copy of Retro Game Challenge years ago, you can still buy a button (and other game-related cross-stitched crafts) for $5 plus shipping from his Etsy shop.

Import: Game Center CX 2

Retro Game Challenge fan loses his damn mind, and we love him for it →

Would you like to have your very own Robot Ninja Haggle Man pinback button, just like this lovely piece?:

Doing his part to push Retro Game Challenge’s sales and convince XSEED to localize its sequel, Benjamin White is offering to make and send out a free button to anyone (anywhere) who purchases a new U.S. copy of RGC after June 24th, when this discouraging text was posted.

It’s a cool effort but also way crazy when you consider that If enough people take advantage of this offer to persuade XSEED to bring over Game Center CX 2, Ben could end up crafting and mailing out tens of thousands of these!

For those of you who go out and pick up a copy, you’ll be able to pick from two different cross-stitch designs, regular Haggle Man and a busted version:

So, if you were one of those jerks who pirated Retro Game Challenges, here is your chance to make things right and get a free handmade button out of the deal.

The secret ending of Haggleman (mosaic’d for spoiler protection — click for the unobscured version).

You get this screen by completing every stage in Haggleman with five seconds or less on the clock. There’s apparently a similar ending in Haggleman 2, but finishing Haggleman 2 was kind of a once-in-a-lifetime event for me, whereas I am life-alteringly awesome at Haggleman.
