Tiny Cartridge 3DS

Never seen that with a 3DS game cover ⊟

You can see what I mean when you skip to the 2:18 mark of this LinandKo unboxing for Harvest Moon: Connect to a New World. At first it looks like the inside cover is taking advantage of the box’s eco-friendly gaps, as we’ve seen in some other designs, but when you pull out the jacket, it’s a spot-the-difference game! Marvelous AQL is giving people plenty of value for their money with this 2-in-1 game pack.

Did you know that this is the fastest-selling Harvest Moon release in Japan? It’s already moved 131,000 copies during its first week in stores there, nearly exceeding Marvelous AQL’s lifetime forecast of 150,000. The series has performed well on 3DS, but something about this entry must have really resonated with buyers. Maybe it’s the Angora rabbits?

If you can’t wait for Natsume to announce/release this game for the West, here are some English “Let’s Play” videos posted by LinandKo.

Pretend animals are talking while you play Harvest Moon ⊟

That’s the messaging behind these Japanese ads for the new 3DS game, Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land, and I couldn’t approve more. I want to play a game that lets me go hang out on a farm and stare at angora rabbits! I just want to stare at angora rabbits I guess.

Two more after the break!

Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Boxart ⊟
There’s a lot of emphasis here on the animals, what with the new Safari feature being introduced to Harvest Moon: Connect to a New World. This releases in Japan on February 27. Don’t forget that North American publisher Natsume is selling a few of its games with a $10 discount on the eShop, including its Harvest Moon 3DS titles.

Natsume eShop sale ⊟

Curious about Hometown Story? Maybe, like me, you feel like you’ve put off sampling Harvest Moon for long enough. Through January 31, a few Natsume games are on sale on the North American eShop, for $10 off.

Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns is $20; Hometown Story and Harvest Moon: A New Beginning are $30. That’s roughly one million hours of gameplay in total.

Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land

Now that Rune Factory 4 is out of the way (in Japan and North America at least — Europe gets it early next year), Marvelous AQL can bring out the next 3DS farming/life sim it has waiting in line.

Famitsu posted these screenshots, and if the monkeys seem out-of-place to you, they’re part of a new Safari you can visit. The area is filled with wild animals like Angora rabbits, reindeer, and parrots that you can take care off, with more creatures popping up as you progress through the story. The game is said to have twice the amount of animals as previous entries.

As for the meaning of the Connect to a New Land subtitle, producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto explained in an interview translated by Siliconera, “The upcoming title will be compatible with the Nintendo 3DS StreetPass and Wi-Fi features, which will be used to trade various information with friends, and also to visit their ranches.”

You’ll also be able to access a Trade Station allowing you to buy and sell crops with other countries (you start off with access to only one trade partner/country). “When players ship goods they’ll get different reactions depending on the country’s preferences,” he added. “For example, a certain good might get a pleasant reaction from one country, but it might get a normal reaction from another. There will also be some moments where the goods you’re trading start to trend.”

Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land releases in Japan next February.

Slow your roll there, Toni. Talk like that is liable to get you slapped outta ya britches, son.
Real talk, this ain’t Rune Factory — the kid isn’t gonna come at you with a sword or staff, on some Lord of the Rings nonsense. I got big-boy blueprints back at home for a banana-clip chopper, and you don’t want to be the first dude in this Harvest Moon town to see it.

Not only is Allen from Harvest Moon: A New Beginning a jerk, he’s also a homewrecker! You can read the entire exchange at Harvest Mom starting here.

While you’re here, I might as well mention that Nintendo sent out vague “system stability” firmware updates for both Wii U and 3DS tonight.

Girls aren’t the only ones taken in by Allen’s charms. All of Harvest Moon: A New Beginning seems to be head over heels with the conceited hardresser.

There are Tumblrs dedicated to the fashions in Glee and Star Trek: The Next Generation, so why wouldn’t there be one for Harvest Moon (and Rune Factory)?
Now you, too, can wear the same gear as that jerk Allen, so you can look like him and be a jerk like him, and have girls who want to fix jerks swoon over you just like Allen.

I doubt most Harvest Moon players — or peeps on Tumblr for that matter — will need this guide. They learned all about this long before HM: A New Beginning came out!
