Final Fantasy Main Theme” by Hyadain. I don’t hear anything gross in what I can comprehend of the lyrics, but when a fansubbed version appears online I’m sure we’ll discover that it’s totally juvenile. In the meantime, we can enjoy a nice vocal arrangement!

“Super Mario World Western Show” by Hyadain. Pretty old, but I hadn’t seen it!

Mario and Bowser are jerks.

“DQIV, Chapter 3: Torneko’s Song” by Hyadain, subtitled by Enigmaopoeia. Speaking (tangentially) of Chunsoft roguelikes, here’s a song performed by the protagonist of the very first one, singing about his adventures in Dragon Quest IV.

Though I know almost nothing about Dragon Quest storylines (and therefore have little basis for this proclamation), I think Torneko is one of the most interesting RPG protagonists ever. A guy driven not by revenge, or heroism, but the need to stock his shop still seems like a fresh idea. If I could ever get over my fear of endgame grinding enough to play a Dragon Quest game again instead of just reading about them, it would be IV.

Retro Game50 #46 - #43, continuation of Hyadain’s game music remix medley first seen here. The Mappy bit is pretty catchy/annoying, but check out the completely killer animation in the Kid Dracula segment! I would watch the Kid Dracula show. More importantly, I would play the Kid Dracula sequel that Konami probably isn’t going to make after Rocket Knight.

“Heat!!! Hyadain Rockman Remix” by Hyadain, subtitles by enigmaopoeia. Hyadain took Heat Man’s theme from Mega Man 2 and made it… not sexy exactly, but at least sexual. Filthy, in fact.

“Konami Wai Wai World Medley” by Hyadain. Konami Wai Wai World, in case you haven’t come across it, was a Famicom platformer that combined characters and settings from many Konami games, including The Goonies, Castlevania, Antarctic Adventure, King Kong 2,Gradius Getsu Fuma Den (just released on Virtual Console in Japan!), and Twinbee. The game also features Konami Man, who still appears as a bonus item in Castlevania games. In addition to the characters and their worlds, Wai Wai World also borrows music from other Konami games.

I’m really glad enigmaopoeia translated the lyrics for us, because it means that I get to enjoy the jokes while I’m being reminded of how great the Goonies music was.

“Retro Game50 #50-#47” by Hyadain. The song includes interpretations of music from Saint Seiya, Youkai Douchuuki, Kato-chan Ken-chan (released here as J.J. & Jeff), and Doraemon. I’ve never heard a cover of J.J. & Jeff music before! Could it be that someone besides me likes the game?
