I almost forgot that this will be shipping out in a week! Unfortunately the more expensive limited edition has been sold out for some time now, but you can still put in a half-price preorder ($19.42) for the standard hardcover.
Hyrule Historia will receive a limited Collector’s Edition that will release alongside the standard book packed with Legend of Zelda art, history, and more.
The good news: this version has gold-gilded pages and a faux-leather cover with debossed Gate of Time artwork. Preorders are currently discounted to $45.73.
The bad news: Amazon lists this as shipping two weeks later than the standard version (January 29), and with eight fewer pages — it’s unclear if that’s because the Collectors Edition is missing the Akira Himekawa manga packed in with the standard release, or if the comic is just not included in the page count.
New North American cover for Hyrule Historia, that upcoming Legend of Zelda book that features 274 pages collecting the series’ history and artwork. This is the same book that blew everyone’s minds with the Zelda timeline.
Just in case you haven’t heard, Dark Horse is bringing Hyrule Historia — that amazing Legend of Zelda book featuring “never-before-seen concept art, the full history of Hyrule, the official chronology of the games,” and more — to the U.S. in January 2013. Yeah, that’s a while from now, but I never expected Nintendo to work with anyone to bring this outside of Japan in the first place!
Anyway, if you preorder the 248-page hardcover book now at Amazon, you can save $14 on Hyrule Historia's list price, as the retailer has it on sale for only $20.99.
A more detailed timeline for The Legend of Zelda, translated by GlitterBerri from Hyrule Historia — the new Legend of Zelda 25th anniversary art book, which series director Eiji Aonuma served as supervising editor on.
Here’s a video of a French dude flipping through Hyrule Historia. I wish this was still in stock at Play Asia…
