Tiny Cartridge

“Been thinking a lot about handhelds, clothes, and kissing”

Two great pieces from Lamar Abrams. We think about those things a lot, too; that’s why we made Kissing Party (Maré Odomo actually made it, but we attached our name to it)!

Wallpaper faces for Animal Crossing 3DS and… Satoru Iwata!

If you’ve ever wanted the smiling face of Nintendo’s president and CEO as your desktop background, we are making that dream of yours a reality today. Here are a couple wallpapers for Animal Crossing: New Leaf’s Brewster and Shizue, too, all courtesy of Liblu.

While we’re featuring one executive, did you see this Christmas message by Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata? It is so frickin’ adorable. I wish our Nintendo Directs were as charming as Europe’s presentations.

Fire Emblem: Awakening poster

This neat fold-out poster comes from a recent issue of Japanese magazine Nintendo Dream. It’s mostly assets we’ve seen before, but who cares, I am so pumped for this game. We’ve also seen this intro to Fire Emblem: Awakening video before on the Nintendo Direct livestream, but Nintendo uploaded the excerpt yesterday and I watched it again this morning anyway because I am so hyped for this.

Raised by Nintendo handhelds. This is what we’re about. Credit to illustrator/comic maker Afonso Ferreira for capturing the portable gamer’s life growing up (and Mario’s increasing annoyance as the years go by).

Lego Star Fox by Wes Talbott. Great follow-up to his similar Lego treatment for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time a few months back.
Everybody’s jettin’ out of there so fast, no one noticed Slippy Toad behind them, getting blasted. They might find his cap and blocky legs floating with all the other debris later.

Here’s one last Nester comic to close out Nintendo Power, which is shipping its last issue this month. Artist Bill Mudron killed it here (the comic, not the actual magazine).

I love that Nester framed and hung his mentor’s bowtie in his Nintendo room. Make sure to go out and buy the last issue for more nostalgia from the publication’s 24-year run.

Yoshitaka Amano illustrations for Fantasy Life

Boy, this game sure is going through a lot of different art styles! First there was its 16-bit-ish look, then its 3D transformation, and now this — Amano is a legend, though, so he’s allowed to step in and do whatever he wants.

Besides, like the Final Fantasy artwork he’s famous for, this won’t actually appear in the 3DS game. As far as I can tell, publisher Level-5 is just using the airship image for the RPG/life-sim’s mini-soundtrack preorder bonus in Japan.

Segazine is looking hot, if these submissions to the upcoming black and white publication are anything to go by. The artists behind these pieces, in order of appearance:

There’s no guarantee that all of the illustrations will appear in the zine, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of these make the cut. You can follow Segazine’s progress and purchase a copy when they go on sale here.
