Super limited edition Mega Charixard X 3DS XL ⊟
This was given out as the prize for Japan’s recent Dragon King tournament — only one was produced, and it features the winner’s name on the back, according to a report from Serebii.
[Update: It looks like two were made for two winners?]
Even if you lived in Japan, you probably wouldn’t have been eligible to win this, as the tournament was for grade-school-age students there. Players competed with both the trading card game and Pokemon XY using at least one Dragon-type creature in their party, which is a neat idea. The winner is pretty much the best multi-platform Pokemon Dragon trainer.

Takahashi Meijin 30th anniversary t-shirt ⊟
Ohhhhhh wow. Japanese shirt company Mars Sixteen has produced this amazing shirt in honor of the 30th anniversary of… I think his acquisition of the “Meijin” name/rise to fame in Japan.
It features a hand on the front, in classic Meijin formation, rapidly tapping on an unseen button on the front, and a cartoon style image of the former Hudson pitchman on the back, complete with his “Play the game one hour a day” catchphrase.
This somewhat busy, but still awesome, shirt is on sale through the site for 3800 yen (about $38). Brb, just going to add a new milestone to our Patreon drive that is just “JC buys a t-shirt”

Man, look at those Ace Attorney “Reflect Charms,” they’re huge ⊟

Man, I thought these things were, like phone charm size! This is a very chunky Phoenix. I LOVE it.

Too bad it’s only available as a bonus with online purchases of Wright Selection 123.

I really don’t want a 3DS port of the iOS ports of Ace Attorney games, that wouldn’t even work with my 3DS – even if it meant I’d have one of these guys (or a little pixel Godot or Franziska). But I’d probably buy the whole thing if it were released stateside, Reflect Charms intact.

Artepiazza’s Arrow of Laputa 2 ⊟
Artepiazza, developer of the DS Dragon Quest remakes (and the interesting Opoona, which I never had time to play more than like an hour of) announced a 3DS eShop sequel to its DSiWare tower defense game Arrow of Laputa.
The original had a totally different art style, with cute chibi characters that translated to really nice sprites. I’m really interested in how the above characters, with painfully overcomplicated clothes and tiny heads, will make the transition. The screens are way too tiny and this is literally all the media released so far.
Arrow of Laputa gave players five different unit types (archers, mages, soldiers, knights, hammer guys), all upgradable, and sixteen stages of advancing monsters. We’ll learn more about the sequel soon, I guess, because it comes out in Japan on March 26.

Romancing SaGa DLC in Theatrhythm Curtain Call ⊟

But… but that’s not Final Fantasy at all! Except, well, several SaGa games were released as Final Fantasies in the West, and they share staff, and whatever.

If you don’t like the cross-pollination, you can avoid it by not buying the DLC! And this whole discussion is hypothetical anyway because the game hasn’t been announced for release anywhere but Japan.

The Special Edition Persona Q 3DS XL ⊟

It’s very different from past limited edition systems — I like it a lot! The text on the lid translates to ”The Grimoire of Hearts: Personality changes the world,” according to Anime News Network.

This will release as part of a $250 bundle alongside Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth in Japan on June 5. The game’s U.S. release is expected this fall (we likely won’t get the system).

Yessss, 3D Fantasy Zone coming out in Japan ⊟

The next 3D Classic from M2 is 3D Fantasy Zone: Opa Opa Brothers. As with the other (EXCELLENT) 3D Classics, this has a variety of display, gameplay, and even region options.

A new mode accessible after completion of the game lets you play as Opa Opa’s brother Upa Upa, and lets you buy powerup items during the game, right from the touch screen.

The game comes out in Japan March 19! The second set of 3D Classics also includes After Burner 2, and probably some other stuff to be revealed later. Thanks, @jschwartzbauer!

We see what you’re doing, Touch Detective 3

Success’ DS adventure game series is famous for Funghi, a character who looks suspiciously phallic (and who became a sensation in spinoff iOS games).

Now the antagonist of Touch Detective 3 is a banana man. I don’t think this is a coincidence.

…or maybe it is, and the character designer doesn’t realize what is happening. The whole game is a giant Freudian slip.

Glorious Shin Megami IV OST box ⊟
I’ve embedded an unboxing of the recently released Shin Megami Tensei IV OST posted by @xanthax after the break. There’s not too much exciting stuff included in the set besides the neat sticker and the five million tracks on the four discs, but this was a great excuse to share this legendary cover that we somehow never posted when it was originally unveiled. It’s so awesome and perfect and I would not mind having that framed as a poster in my office.

Nya Nya Nya! Cat Puppet Mario Time ⊟
So Nintendo has been putting out these “Nya Nya Nya! Neko Mario Time” (Meow Meow Meow Cat Mario Time) videos in Japan to promote Super Mario 3D World and other games — strange but amusing stuff.
If watching these videos is inspiring you to host your own Cat Mario show, you will soon be able to import a similar hand puppet! Rakuten has its Cat Mario puppets priced at around $20 (before shipping and handling), and says it will release this June. Credit to @farmboyinjapan for spotting the product, and to Supper Mario Broth for the GIF.

Unholy Heights coming to 3DS ⊟

Petit Depotto’s apartment sim Unholy Heights, which is about filling an apartment building with monsters to fight invading heroes, of course, is coming to 3DS in Japan.

From Playism’s page for the PC version (source of the two screens above):

It’s inevitable that rumors of an apartment building full of monsters would eventually reach the ears of the no-good humans. Would-be heroes, bloodthirsty pirates, cunning thieves and conniving mages all have their sights on The Devil’s gold! Knock on doors and call your residents to your side! They want a war? We’ll give ‘em a war!

Not only do you have to recruit them to fight, but you also have to collect rent from the creatures and maintain their apartments to keep them happy. This sounds wild!

Playism localized the PC release of this, so there’s a chance for this one too. There’s been no announcement for the West; it comes out in Japan on the eShop this year.
