Super Mario Bros.-themed 3DS “Body Covers” by Keys Factory. What’s interesting about these is that they don’t directly reference or tie into Super Mario 3D Land at all, instead featuring either Super Mario Bros. sprite art or 2D character designs of pre-SNES characters (plus Yoshi).
Also interesting: they’re fresh to death. I haven’t seen these available on any American sites yet, unfortunately. In Japan, types A and C were released yesterday, with B and D coming November 24, for ¥1280 ($16.40) each.

Keys Factory’s line of polycarbonate “Body Cover” cases for the Nintendo 3DS aren’t exciting by themselves, but the company has added some zest to the bland accessories with its Irodori (color scheme) marketing concept.
Noting that you can mix and match the bottom/top segments of the different colored Body Cover sets, Keys Factory set up a slow-loading Flash site for experimenting with different combinations and seeing the results online. The manufacturer says there are 100 different combos — you can see a Pokemon red/white design above.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like you can order single pieces of Body Cover sets. You’ll have to purchase two separate sets — $8.89 to $12.69 each — with the colors you want. I wish there was a gray option, but teal/white look like an acceptable Tiny Cartridge color combo!

Thanks to the clever D-pad guide thing and the adhesive tab on the right side, this looks way easier to apply than the arcane Hori Screen Protective Filter — though I’m happy in both cases for this trend of video guides.
It’s also way easy to get one of these Screen Guard Plus covers for yourself — by retweeting, reblogging, or liking our DS Dates contest post! Only once, please, we don’t want to be responsible for a spam outbreak.

If you want to have a full set of accessories at your disposal for when the 3DS launches in North America this March, Play-Asia is taking preorders for all of these items and plans to begin shipping them late next month.
As you can see the images, they’re all available in a variety of colors — with the exception of the screen guard, a neat accessory whose DSi version we raved about for its innovative applicator that lines up with the system’s d-pad.
Prices range from $6.99 (screen guards) to $12.90 (body covers and mesh covers) before shipping/handling.

Keys Factory employee hints at possible Nintendo 3DS release date for Japan: November 20th, 2010. For those unfamiliar with the company, Keys Factory produces many of the DS/Wii/PSP accessories we’ve featured here, and it recently worked with Nintendo to release that “Human Tetris”-style game Surinuke Anatoosu on WiiWare.
This tweet, now deleted for obvious reasons, reads:
“On November 20th, the 11 goods I designed for use with the 3DS will go on sale simultaneously. Those of you buying the 3DS, please buy them while you’re at it! This will be officially announced on the homepage eventually, lol. Best regards.”
Please note that even if the release of Keys Factory’s 3DS products coincide with the system’s launch, this doesn’t guarantee that the 3DS launch will come to North America by the end of the year — March 2011 seems more likely, in my opinion. Anyway, we’ll here official details soon, as Nintendo reportedly plans to formally reveal pricing and a shipping date for the new portable on September 26th.
And if November 20th seems too close to the holidays to be believable launch date, please note the previous release dates for some recent Nintendo systems in Japan:

tags / keys factory / 3ds / nintendo 3ds / imports / ecSurinuke Anatoosu, a wicked WiiWare game in which you twist and rotate Tetromino shapes through holes in fast approaching walls — it’s like that Brain Wall/Hole In The Wall/”Human Tetris” game show, minus the people!
Apparently, this was developed by Nintendo and Keys Factory. You might recognize the latter name as that Japanese company behind many of the DS, Wii, and PSP accessories we’ve featured here. I wonder how they became involved? It was really odd to see their name attached to a project as a developer!
This releases on Japan’s WiiWare service next Tuesday, but I haven’t heard news of it coming to the West yet. I know Nintendo is debuting a mystery WiiWare game called Fluidity at PAX this weekend, and though the title doesn’t really seem to match this Surinuke Anatoosu’s concept, it’s possible they’re the same thing.
[Update: Fluidity is something completely different! But it still looks neat. Though Nintendo’s publishing it, I wonder who developed it? It seems very Q-Games-ish.]

You decide how many carts you want to be able to hold, and then you can buy a case that holds exactly that many and no more.
I have no idea why I’d buy a little case that holds just two DS games, since, you know, you could carry two DS games in just about anything, from the pocket of a DS case to your sock, but I… kind of want to. I think I’d feel like I had a little Tic Tac box that dispensed DS games.

With the rapid proliferation of the DSi and the DSi XL/LL (and now with the 3DS on the way, though Keys Factory didn’t know that when these were announced), it takes a certain amount of style to continue making new DS Lite accessories. A certain amount of extraordinarily frilly style, in this case.

Screen Guard DSi+. I didn’t expect innovation in DS screen covers, but Keys Factory’s DSi cover has the smartest design I’ve ever seen. The applicator thing features a cutout of the DS D-pad, so you can easily line up the screen cover!
Having just experienced the horror of screen covers again with my PSP, I really appreciate this. Although I don’t actually know where to buy one.

Keys Factory already filled in odd niche last year after establishing its Infem.in line of gothic lolita-themed DS Lite accessories, but the Japanese company has further specialized the brand to include plastic styli and cases resembling colorful confections.
Pricing on the items ranges around ¥500 ($5.62) for the styli and chocolate bar cases to ¥1,500 ($16.86) for the cake pouches. I think I’d rather just buy a package of Oreo cookies for $3 and pig out on those.

It’s a stylus that attaches to the DS with a stretchy cord. It doesn’t really require that much explanation!
