Castlevania: Mirror of Fate demo out today
If you head to the eShop later this afternoon, you can grab the 3DS demo for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate. The impressions I’ve read for the trial so far have been mixed, but supposedly the actual game is decent times. Plus the cutscenes, like the ones you see in these GIFs posted by video game stuffs, seem to have the right tone.

I happened to be reminded of Konami’s “Morning Music” arcade warmup tune yesterday, and went looking around on YouTube. And here’s a version performed by a string quartet!

Castlevania: Mirror of Fate’s North American box. I’m surprised Konami didn’t stick with the same illustration that was revealed for Europe’s box — this artwork looks a bit more generic than what everyone across the Atlantic will get.
It actually makes you miss the anime-ish covers for the first two DS games (Order of Ecclesia probably has the best packaging art for the portable Castlevania series since Aria of Sorrow).

Konami is hesitant to provide any ages for the Love Plus girls, but it’s letting fans know today is Manaka Takane’s birthday. I’m sure you will all want to apply this wallpaper to your desktop or smartphone to honor the holiday.
Just a heads-up, we will begin celebrating Manaka’s birthday around 4AM EST tonight, and will take down the website around that time for the party. We expect the site to come back online within a few hours.

I know it’s meant to be just a silly joke, but way to inject some pervy creepiness into such a charming game (presuming the Wii version didn’t have this), Konami. The original dev, Cing, must be rolling in its grave right now.

Castlevania: Mirror of Fate cover for Europe. Konami’s delayed this to early 2013, which is a bummer for those hoping to see how Spanish developer MercurySteam has treated Koji Igarashi’s baby soon, but at least the game will come in an attractive box when it releases.

Castlevania: Mirror of Fate playthrough of the entire E3 demo. I’m still unsure what to think about this — though after watching the presentation last night, my Castlevania-obsessed wife was not happy at all with these changes for her favorite handheld game series.
Was I the only one half-expecting/hoping Trevor Belmont would jump into that red-armored enemy’s suit, then roam around the stage demolishing fools Metal Slug-style?

Here’s a throwaway trailer for Castlevania: Mirror of Fate for you to take in and pass a few minutes while we wait for Nintendo’s E3 presentation to begin in a half hour. There’s like ten seconds of gameplay at the end, which is better than nothing but not by much.
