Persona Q's finalized premium and standard editions ⊟
The contents for the $50 standard edition and $80 bundle are the same, but Atlus made some slight changes to the look of the main box and art book cover for the latter since its initial mock-ups. Both editions release on November 25.

Limited Edition New 3DSes for Pokémon ORAS ⊟
While North America and Europe received a new trailer and details about an upcoming 3DS eShop demo for Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, Japan enjoyed an announcement for these special edition handhelds.
Starting November 21, Japan’s Pokémon Centers will carry a limited quantity of these New 3DSes with the Kyogre and Groudon custom plates — if Google Translate is correct, they have a suede texture to them, which is baller AF. While they will include custom Home menu themes, they will not have pre-installed copies of the games. They’re priced at ¥19,000, or around $177.
You can watch the Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire trailer and read details about the upcoming demo after the break:
NES, Smash, and Persona Q 3DS XLs announced ⊟
Nintendo of America announced three (!) special edition 3DS XLs today! The Smash Bros. system releases in red and blue on September 19, the NES edition hits on October 10, and the Persona Q portable comes out on November 25.
Please note that all of them are priced at $199.99 and do not include a bundled game, even though two of them are branded with specific titles. Also, all of them will be exclusive to GameStop. Ughhhhhhhhhhh.
Natural Doctrine LE ⊟
I’m totally not a limited-edition person (large print run of JCs, hurr) but NIS America has been on point with its LEs lately. The upcoming NIS Store-exclusive version of Natural Doctrine for Vita comes with a poster, art book, and 9”x 3.14”x 11.8” “Explorer’s Bag,” a nicely useful-looking item!
It ships September 16 for $60. And if, like me, you hadn’t been paying much attention to Natural Doctrine because it’s titled “NAtURAL DOCtRINE”, here’s the premise of the strategy game by Kadokawa Game Studio:
Seasoned explorers and novices alike venture underground into dangerous caves to collect the coveted material known as Pluton. On your first trip into the depths of these mines, your company of explorers quickly realizes that things may be more dire than you had imagined when you encounter a brand-new type of evil lurking below the surface. Will your band of explorers be able to defeat this new threat and warn the kingdom of their presence before it’s too late?
You can also get the game (LE or standard) on PS4 and PS3.

This beautiful import system, originally sold exclusively through Japan’s Pokemon Center locations, is available for just $199.99 at Play-Asia right now — a steep discount from its typical $299.99 tag. That’s not too much more than what you would pay for an XL you’d buy locally!
It’s available with both Pokemon X and Y bundles at that price for a limited time. S/O to NintendoTweet for spotting. If you’d rather import a system that can play U.S. games, don’t forget that Play-Asia is also selling this Mario White 3DS XL right now.
Mario White 3DS XL for US region ⊟
Well, all right. It’s not FOR the US region, but it is compatible with the US region. I spotted a weird listing on Play-Asia the other day for this “Mario White” 3DS XL, with copies of New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2011, shipping in July. It specifically said it was US region compatible… I thought the whole thing was a mistake.
But apparently not. NintendoTweet mentioned that it was actually being released in Southeast Asia (which uses the same region code as us for 3DS) by Maxsoft, the Nintendo distributor in that area. And this Yahoo article has confirmation from Maxsoft.
So yeah, looks like you can order yourself a really cool, previously China-only Mario White 3DS XL (that comes with an old-ass soccer game) and play your US games on it.

Theathrythm: Curtain Call Collector’s Edition ⊟
Wow, so Square Enix will be making one of these! Well, actually the publisher is making 5,000 of them, so make sure to order the limited edition set from Square Enix’s online shop now if you want one. It’s coming to both North America and Europe.
Along with the game, the $70 bundle includes the following:
- Nintendo 3DS Collector’s Pouch
- 5-track Theatrhythm Remix CD
- 20-track Best of Theatrhythm CD
- 5 Premium CollectaCards (Exclusive set of five Premium, limited edition cards, based on the popular CollectaCard designs of the game. Enter the password on the card into the game to get the in-game version of that CollectaCard)
This might be a Tomodachi Life 2DS ⊟
It’s pretty much the same “mint x white” color scheme used in the Japanese Tomodachi Collection 3DS XL, which suggests this is preeeeetty likely to be a special edition release concurrent with the game.
Looks pretty nice! Maybe consider this possibility if you’re about to buy a 2DS.

J-League x Pokemon 3DS XLs ⊟
If you live in Japan and love Japanese soccer, you might have a shot at one of these. The three Pokemon-themed 3DS LL systems above will be given away at Marinos (white), Urawa Reds (red), and FC Tokyo (blue) games, with the number of systems distributed depending on the score of the home team.
Fans will also get special Pikachu-playing-soccer Pokemon cards, and can even meet Pikachu! A suspiciously human-sized Pikachu, but still. That’s just more Pikachu to hug.
Kirby gets his own Pink + White 2DS in Europe ⊟
It’s like an inverted version of the Peach Pink 2DS North America will receive for Disney Magical World's launch (I prefer the one we're getting in the States). Like that system, this limited edition hardware won't include a pre-installed game copy when it releases alongside Kirby: Triple Deluxe in Europe on May 16. Nintendo, however, will put out a new silver 2DS carrying case on the same day.
Here’s a new Kirby: Triple Deluxe trailer for Europe, too.
What’s the deal with special edition 3DSes lately? ⊟
It looks like the Mickey 3DS XL that’s coming to Walmart in two weeks, priced at $199, doesn’t include a copy of Disney Magical World, despite releasing on the same day as the game and bearing its name on the lid.
It’s understandable that the GameStop-exclusive Peach Pink 2DS won’t come with the game either, as it’s not explicitly linked to the title even though it comes with a branded Disney Magical World case. But last month’s Yoshi 3DS XL didn’t include Yoshi’s New Island either? Is this the new deal with limited edition hardware releases?

Disney Magical World 3DS XL coming to US ⊟
Spotted in press photos Nintendo put out today of Disney Channel star G Hannelius (her first name is just G?) playing Disney Magical World was the special edition white 3DS XL that was released in Japan. It looks like this is also coming to North America, exclusive to Walmart — meanwhile, GameStop has the exclusive on the Peach Pink 2DS that will launch alongside the game on April 11.
Judging by the photos Nintendo put out, the North American ”Mickey Edition 3DS XL” looks just like the Japanese edition posted above, except it will say Disney Magical World instead of Disney Magic Castle.
