Whoa, I’ve no idea how Zach got a hold of this special edition system, but that 3DS looks crazy tasty. Might head down to the local grocery store and see if they have any of these left in stock today.
In case you missed it last night — we recorded a special Animal Crossing podcast for Tiny Cartridge!

The highlights from this morning’s Ace Attorney 5 and Monster Hunter 4-centered Nintendo Direct in Japan! As you can probably tell from the limited edition hardware release date, Monster Hunter 4 will ship to Japanese stores on September 14 (with a demo coming out on July 25). You can watch a new trailer for the game below:
Nintendo will release two more 3DS editions across the Pacific, including an Eevee-themed/striped XL that will be sold through a lottery at Pokémon Center locations starting June 22.
The Metallic Red system is a standard-sized 3DS that will hit stores in Japan on June 13.

So, by the looks of this game’s new prosecutor/antagonist, this is going to be a Guilty Gear crossover or whatevs. Nice feather.
Capcom will put out an Extended Edition for the game that will include the cute case pictured above, as well as a Figurine Edition that will include a mystery item. Maybe it’s the figurine. And then there’s the Limited Edition that includes both. Everything here releases on July 25.

After white smoke billowed out of the official Pokémon Twitter account’s chimney yesterday, we knew this announcement was imminent.
Priced at $199.99 and packed with a 4GB SD card, this Pikachu Edition handheld will release alongside Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity — don’t forget that when you buy a 3DS XL and this game (or Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon), you can get a free download code for one of five first-party titles when you register both.
[Update: Target will have the system on sale for $160!]

This one is for the bundle Namco will release with its newly announced Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life game, which hits Japan this July 11.
Players and their Miis will be able to meet over 80 Disney characters (e.g. Mickey, Winnie the Pooh, Aladdin), and collect more than 1,000 items. You can watch a Japanese trailer for the Animal Crossing clone here.
I imagine this will make it to the U.S. eventually. My message to Namco: No Goof Troop theme song, no sale.

Even though Europe will receive Fire Emblem: Awakening a couple months later than North America, the region scored this nice exclusive. The rest of us are stuck with standard 3DS bundles, but Europe gets a 3DS XL limited edition bundle when the game releases on April 19. Awakening will also have slightly different boxart and a better looking logo in Europe (Kellam still gets snubbed, though).
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will also have special Wii U (32 GB) and 3DS XL bundles in Europe — the former will include a black console and a black Wii U Pro Controller, while the latter will offer a black 3DS XL. The Circle Pad Pro will also launch there on the same day.

Nintendo of America has formally announced that this previously Japan-only bundle is coming to the States! It’s about time more of these limited edition 3DSes started coming to our shores — I have my fingers crossed that we’ll eventually see the beautiful Animal Crossing and Dragon Quest Monsters (or has that ship sailed?) ones here, too.

If you were one of the lucky few people who won in Japan’s raffle for a chance to buy the “Lizardon Edition 3DS LL” (or Charizard Edition 3DS XL), you would have taken this thing home yesterday. But you’re probably not, so you’ll just have to settle for admiring these photos we’ve posted from people bragging about it online.
Unless Nintendo decides to bring it to Europe (and not to North America, like the Pikachu 3DS XL). Or you throw down big bucks to import one from a Japanese auction.
