Year of Luigi tote, book ⊟
Publisher Gakken will release this special Year of Luigi book, With Luigi 30th Anniversary Memorial Mook, on December 16 in Japan. The 1,490 yen ($15) book also includes the surprisingly nice Year of Luigi tote bag and a Super Star card/train pass case.
Apparently it’s Cyber Monday of Luigi ⊟
That’s according to a press release Nintendo sent out for the limited edition Mario & Luigi: Dream Team 3DS XL bundle, which comes out today ($199.99, though Best Buy has it for $20 cheaper, and Walmart is selling it with two free 3DS games). Images above are via Favocado.
I am told that “Cyber Monday of Luigi” is not what I think it is, so instead of sharing the gigs of salacious Luigi pics I’ve saved over the years, I’ll just list the notable online sales we’re seeing for games today:
Nintendo 3DS XL Red (Overstock) - $139.99
- 3DS XL Red or Blue with StarFox 64 3D (Toys R Us) - $169.99
- Paper Mario: Sticker Star (Walmart) - $9.99
- Batman Arkham Origins: Blackgate (3DS and PS Vita) - $24.99
- Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition (Wii U) - $8.50
- PS Vita Walking Dead system bundle (includes Sly Cooper, Retro City Rampage, and Uncharted) - $179.99
PS Vita 16GB memory card - $19.99
- Killzone: Mercenary - $19.99
- Persona 4 Golden - $19.99
- Dragon’s Crown - $29.99
- Tearaway - $29.99
- LittleBigPlanet, Unit 13, Resistance: Burning Skies, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, and Gravity Rush - $9.99 each
- Kingdom Hearts 1.5HD Remix (PlayStation 3) - $19.99
Instead of putting up a bunch of sales posts, I’ll try to add new deals to this one. You can also follow us on Twitter for updates on new discounts, or if you want to send us dirty Cyber Monday of Luigi tweets.

Celebrate this, the Year of Luigi with this, a great poster by The Daily Robot.
Luigi’s Mansion 3DS bundle, and other US deals ⊟
Nintendo has formally announced the Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon/Cobalt Blue 3DS bundle ($179.99) we’ve previously seen in leaked ads, as one of the deals being offered in this, the Black Friday of Luigi. There are some other great sales that, unfortunately, are tied to this awful shopping day:
- Walmart will sell 2DS systems for $99.96
- Target will have 3DS XLs for $149.99
- Nintendo Land for Wii U now includes a Luigi Wii Remote Plus starting December 2! So that’s what happened with the low shipments: Nintendo was preparing a new bundle.
Strangely, Nintendo still has yet to officially announce the silver Mario & Luigi 3DS XL bundle in this, the press release of Luigi deals.

"First step of any Zelda game" ⊟
Not sure what I’m going to do with myself when this beautiful year is over. This, our Year of Luigi. S/o to @dom2d for the original GIF/Vine.
Really love what Nintendo’s done with this franchise ⊟
I know Jeremy Parish isn’t fond of the latest Zelda game’s visual style, but based on this artwork alone it looks amazing.
:oP The art is from Secret Octopus, but I’m using it as an opportunity to mention two quick Luigi and Zelda things:
- I’ve been playing A Link Between Worlds, and it’s pretty fun so far
- OMG, there is a Luigi Bros. version of Mario Bros. included in Super Mario 3D World
It’s been such a great year.
The 3DS XL Case of Luigi ⊟
Hori offers this excellent 3DS XL case featuring the Man of the Year for $16.99. There’s a Mario one too, but who cares about that guy.

Just sittin’ here, thinking about the Year of Luigi ⊟
You know that Year of Luigi 2DS? Yeah, that’s not happening; it’s a fan-made piece. The guy who made it claims that photos he took of the convincing mod (along with the phony packaging he meticulously created, down to the fake barcode sticker) were sent to press outlets without his permission — unfortunately everyone presumed it was the real deal before he could clear up the rumors, four days later in a video interview..
Why would someone do all that in, yes, this year of Luigi? I don’t know. I don’t know. **Clouds float by, an autumn wind whistles in Luigi’s ear and nearly blows his hat off. He stains his gloves pulling up blades of grass and letting them flit out of his hands. So goes the twilight months of this Year of Luigi**
This image and many other great GIFs can be found on Tim Welman’s Tumblr.

We might get a Year of Luigi 2DS ⊟
I was going to be way disappointed if all we got was that unexciting Cobalt Blue Luigi’s Mansion 3DS bundle while Europe and Japan enjoy the wonderful Year of Luigi 3DS XL. But according to these photos posted over at Kotaku, North America could get a Green and White 2DS, with a debossed Luigi silhouette on the back. This is an acceptable Year of Luigi tribute.
Attention: Year of Luigi commemorative coins ⊟
Centuries from now, when we’ve fallen back into the dark ages, our empires collapsed and all but forgotten, the preferred form of currency will be Year of Luigi coins, traded in faded green velvet pouches.
Unfortunately, these are a Europe-only Club Nintendo prize for now, so your descendants might be screwed if they don’t find a way to get a hold of a Luigi coin stash.
Gold, limited edition The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds 3DS XL bundle releasing in Europe next month ⊟
This releases on November 22 for £199.99 ($319), and comes with a downloadable copy of the game. Retail copies of the game in Europe, by the way, have a reversible cover with the all-gold/U.S. art and a full-color version.
If this isn’t enough proof (along with the Fire Emblem 3DS XL bundle and the Chotto Mario handhelds) that Europe is winning the special edition systems war as far as Western territories go, Nintendo also intends to release the amazing Year of Luigi 3DS XL there on November 1 for £179.99 ($287).
I’m 98 percent sure Nintendo will bring the Zelda 3DS XL at least to the U.S. around Black Friday, just like it did with the Zelda 3DSes and DS Lites.
The Towels of Luigi ⊟
In honor of Anno Luigi 2013, Club Nintendo Japan is offering these two handkerchiefs featuring the man of the year. They’re perfect for wiping the sweat off your brow after a long day of vacuuming up ghosts and/or doing weird floaty jumps.
