Get out on the links and let people know you mean business. Specifically, Nintendo’s licensing business, to the tune of nine hundred dollars.
I’m actually really impressed that so soon after Nintendo announced intent to license its characters for more products, we already have this and the Mario Kart Power Wheels.
Here’s a pooping Mario ⊟
Jacob Ashley of The Wooden Arcade crafted this lovely scene of Mario pooping. Poor Mario doesn’t always have a toilet around when he needs one, so I’m happy to see this scene of a quiet constitutional.

Ultra Detail Luigi through the ages ⊟
There are also some other characters (Red Luigi, Luigi’s Dinosaur Friend), and this Baby Yoshi set that I love. Each is 940 yen and won’t ship until September of 1 After Luigi (2014)! I’ve seen the figures on Amiami so far. Thanks to the anonymous tipster who alerted me to these!
What’s up, off-model Bowser ⊟
You guessed it (and saw the watermark in several places): this li’l guy is a Dealextreme offering. Probably wouldn’t be able to see over the wheel of his Bowser car, poor guy.
Paper Mario, Uncle Scrooge, & more in Spelunky ⊟
Besides its Daily Challenges feature, one of the bonuses of the PC version for Spelunky HD that’s not in the PSN editions is the ability to mod the game. Here you can see several edits people made to play as Mario, Pauline, and even Uncle Scrooge. They’ve also skinned the stages and swapped out the damsels you can rescue. You can see and grab these mods from BoogieLove, Headbox, and Radioduke at the Spelunky forums.
Have I mentioned how jealous I am that the PS Vita version doesn’t have Daily Challenges? Apparently Spelunky creator Derek Yu says it’s a possibility that the PSN versions will receive it somehow, and that he intends to discuss the matter with BlitWorks (the studio that ported Spelunky to PSN). There’s no guarantee that anything will come out of those talks, and I wouldn’t hold my breath for that update, but at least there’s hope.
While we’re talking about Spelunky and Nintendo-themed mods, someone used a hack and finally found a use for the Kid Icarus-esque eggplant item. This seems impossible to pull off without cheating.

New Super Mario Bros. U toys let you shoot a goomba
I love these little Mario sets. One lets you shoot a little fireball at a little goomba, and the other has a jumping Mario that hits a block, both with appropriate sound effects. And you can set them up together to create a bigger scene with an apparently time-traveling Mario and his double. The Fire Mario and 10 Coin Block sets are each $9.50 from J-List.
Speaking of NSMBU, something occurred to me the other day. Because of the Wii U’s poor hardware sales, NSMBU is going to end up being one of the least played Mario games, despite being the best side-scrolling Mario in years. Kinda sad!
Super Mario 3D World
It’s a Mario 3D Land sequel for Wii U, with the Super Mario 2 cast playable in multiplayer, and a NECESSARY new powerup: Cat Mario!

Mario and Luigi style eye shades
Been a while since I featured some Dealextreme garbage! Sorry I’ve been remiss, as I’ve cost you several opportunities to sleep with half a Mario face on your face.
Mario AR card eShop point cards
Well, this is the best idea. Nintendo’s new eShop point cards are also AR cards, with new Mario, Goomba, and Peach 3D models for you to pose in your 3DS photos. There’s a new photo app, Photo Together Super Mario, that lets you pose these in different ways, with effects. There is also a ¥1000 Koopa, ¥2000 Luigi, and ¥3000 Bowser card to collect.
What a clever way to get people interested in checking out the eShop. Japan seems very strongly retail-oriented, so point cards are probably the best way to get people to buy stuff online.
This came out of a mini Nintendo Direct overnight (surprise!) all about eShop stuff. Other than this, though, it covered Dillon’s Rolling Western 2 and Freakyforms Deluxe, nbd.
Super Mario 3DS LL covers by Takara Tomy
All right, maybe I just have 3DS/3DS XL skins on the brain lately, but these geometric Mario block arrangements are pretty swanky. Especially the blue “underground” versions.
