Katamari Damacy’s Prince, Gauntlet’s Wizard, and Mario by Jeremy Tinder. All four of these pieces will appear at Giant Robot SF’s “Game Over 3” show, which kicks off next week. You can see more artwork and a flyer from the event at GameSetWatch.

I attended this show last year (in between GDC and a rushed drive to Simi Valley for my cousin’s wedding) and it was fabulous, so I’m really bummed I can’t make it this time around. I should get around to posting the Kazimir Strzepek piece I bought from the show last year; apparently, he’s contributing more art for “Game Over 3”.

L.A. gallery Las Cienegas Projects is also running a neat exhibit titled “Trail of Broken Heart” (a clever title and the name of a Dragonforce song), which features Legend of Zelda items brought to life by Sky Burchard.

Sky’s friend Jonathan Bilski posted some great photos from the show (and disparages “Game Over” in his write-up) on his blog. I love the Magical Boomerang!

Mario Bros. and Sidestepper soft vinyl figures by Gargamel. Photo by Balkin.

Gargamel had these incredible little guys available at Wonder Festival. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure they were non-licensed show-exclusives. If you find out otherwise, please let me know!

More photos, including non-painted versions available on Gargamel’s blog.

A Persona 4/Mother 3 mash-up, found on Danbooru (sorry, I have no idea who the original artist is, though I’d definitely love to know and give proper credit). Like JC and Eric, I adore fan art, and because I’ve been asked to pass along a taste of my usual stomping grounds during my tenure, here are a few recent favorites!

Hope no one minds more Persona, which happens to be like my all-time favorite JRPG, btw. Like this lovely, and massive, piece (be sure to click the image for the full-sized version)  by “Celery” that features every major character from Personas 1-4. I have no idea why everyone’s holding a household appliance; I’m assuming it’s a meme that I have zero familiarity with:

Via some random Japanese image board comes a ton of anime/game character mash-ups, including Yukiko and Chie from P4 as Morrigan and Hsien-Ko from Darkstalkers:

Though my absolute favorite costume swap would have to be Peach and Samus:

Speaking of princesses, Peach gets plenty of attention, whereas Rosalina from Super Mario Galaxy gets hardly any (well, she is new after-all). Expect for the following, and it somewhat confirms many people’s suspicions since day one:

As for the Mushroom Kingdom’s greatest champion, check out “Mario, Patron Saint of Brooklyn” by Butt Johnson:

Sticking with Nintendo, and back to Pixiv once again, a pretty neat-o Pokemon piece from Tomioka Nirou that’s also a bit different from the norm:

Time for more Darkstalkers and yet another random Japanese image board. Most are from Udon’s Darkstalkers Tribute book, though I’m not entirely sure about this one (Update: readers are saying it’s by Alex Ahad —jc):

Finally, here we have a bunch of Street Fighters setting aside their differences and lending a helping hand. Some will find the following endearing, some almost offensive. Hence why I find it rather fascinating:

BTW, I should mention that in addition to my own site, I also try to curate the best in video game fandom and artistry over at the Life Meter Comics blog!

Two kind of neat shirt designs. First, “8-bit Blues” by Jaakie201, which is a cute variant on the usual “blowing on NES cartridges” joke, which normally irritates the hell out of me on shirts. If you like it, go vote for it, because this submission hasn’t been chosen for printing by Threadless yet!

Second, “Metal Sonic Sprites” by Trunks & Soto. The same idea as the webcomic’s Sonic Sprite shirt, but with cooler-looking Metal Sonic sprites, in the shape of a cooler-looking Metal Sonic head. This one is available for sale for $17.95.

“Mario at the Flower Shop” by Ryan Snieder (click for larger image). If this seems like a rip-off of those Life/Space Invaders photos that made the blog rounds few months ago, that’s because it’s from the same artist!

Mario mask and gloves, reportedly used for Nintendo events. For a minimum bid of just six dollars, you, too, could give people nightmares about Mario.

Mario, Goomba, and KURIBO’S SHOE amigurumi by Flickr user anenemyairship. While Mario crafts are commonplace enough, there is a shocking lack of homemade Mario tributes featuring the greatest item of all time, the giant damn boot from Super Mario Bros. 3.

There’s basically no way it’s going to be, but can you fucking imagine if Kuribo’s Shoe were to show up in New Super Mario Bros. Wii? All fighting with three friends over the right to inhabit the shoe? Man, I’m going to have to buy this game just in case.

A joke at M. Bison’s expense by Will Stopinski.

Shortly afterwards, the Shadaloo boss was heard muttering, “Is M. Bison going to have to Psycho Crush a bitch?”

Mario and Luigi’s Game Boy accessories advertisement.

You can read the full two-page comic ad, taken from Club Nintendo Classic (I’ve never come across this magazine before!), on this page. Luigi looks so stylish with that fanny pack tilted to the side and strapped across his overalls.

There’s also an NES comic for the Zapper, NES Max, and NES Advantage, which had Mario venturing into space over 15 years before Super Mario Galaxy released.

Hello Kitty as Mario and Luigi. Amazingly, the hats, mustaches, and bows in these papercraft models are all separate pieces, adding to the customizability — and the complexity — of their designs.

Basically, I’m glad other people build these things, so I can appreciate their cuteness without having to take on projects I know are too complicated for me. And this is a seriously cute project.

Hey, you know how you’ve always wanted an 11-inch-tall pillow shaped like a Super Mario Bros. mushroom? And how you really want it to vibrate, for some reason?

Dealextreme’s got them for $12. Be aware, since it’s Dealextreme, this is extremely unlikely to be an officially licensed Nintendo product, and a great deal more likely to be junk.

Speaking of Dealextreme: can you believe this thing is a cell phone, because I totally can’t believe it.

Mario Open Golf board game. How could you not love a board game whose box looks like a giant Famicom cartridge? Even if I don’t understand how a golf board game works, I love it.

The game’s course maps, which, I guess, also count as the “board”:

See more vintage Mario board games from Japan at Inside-Games, including, yes, a Super Mario World game whose box looks like a Super Famicom cartridge. Whooooooa.
