Mario Tennis Open commercial for North America. Man, they really did not try at all with that Bowser shirt. I also feel bad that this kid got to be on national TV, and the director had him make that grimace face the whole time.
Oh, and there are some Japanese commercials, too.

Midnight Purple 3DS releasing on May 20 with Mario Tennis Open. Nearly two years after Nintendo teased gamers with a purple 3DS display system (and a gold version, too!) at E3, the company is releasing it to stores.
It will retail for the usual price of $169.99, and will appear at stores on the same day Mario Tennis Open hits (a Sunday). This is the fifth color we’ll receive in the States, after Cosmo Black, Aqua Blue, Flame Red, and Pearl Pink — we’re still waiting on the Ice White edition that’s been on shelves in Europe and Japan for months now.

Maybe Mario Tennis Open’s weird Super Mario Bros. game isn’t as fun as I initially thought — at least judging by this video shot by Nintendo World Report at PAX East.
If you stay with the video into the second half, you can see some footage of the game with the Mushroom Kingdom’s creepiest creeper, Waluigi. Also, I love Wario’s victory cheer at the end. It’s always great to hear Wario win.

You can play a weird version of Super Mario Bros. with a tennis ball and racquet in Mario Tennis Open, thanks to its “Special Games” options. This is so odd, but it looks fun!
I’m just happy to see Nintendo try different things with the classic game (secretly hoping that it will one day make Super Mario Bros. Crossover a thing on its systems).

Mario Tennis Open boxart. It’s unnerving to imagine yourself at the center of a stadium, as hundreds of Shyguys and their black eyes watch you silently. At the end of a match, when you’re spent and you’ve tossed your racket aside, you look around to realize the other players have disappeared. Then the Shyguys descend.
