Custom Noby Noby Boy and Katamari Damacy PSP-3000. I have no idea where this grainy image came from, but I spotted it in Fort90’s latest round-up of alternative gaming news/media. I wouldn’t mind owning this, though the (cute) faces and lines painted on the screen would make it hard to actually play games with the system.

[Update: Brandon, who posted the photos combo, pointed out in the comments that Katamari/NNB creator Keita Takahashi himself painted the PSP for a giveaway.]

Mario Paint instructional video →

The title for this Mario Paint instructional video is something like “Mario Paint: Future Picasso or Beatles.” I’m not sure exactly what it is, mostly due to one annoying kanji, but it involves Mario Paint, Picasso, and the Beatles.

This 30-minute tutorial video was produced by a company called Ape, Inc., later known as Creatures, Inc., and then known as incredibly wealthy people. If that Yoshi drawing is any indication of the Mario Paint skills I could learn, the $25.90 NCSX is charging is nothing

Boston’s “More Than A Feeling” in Mario Paint Composer.

This homebrew DS port of Mario Paint’s music composition feature has been available on programmer BassAceGold’s site for two weeks now, but it’s worth posting for severalĀ  reasons:

  • There’s a new update for the program
  • Maybe some of you haven’t heard about it yet
  • More than a feeeeeeeelllinggggg

Another bullet list and some relevant links:

Mario Paint Composer DS by BassAceGold

There are plenty of homebrew applications that’ve tried to bring Mario Paint’s drawing and animation components to the DS, some more complex than others, but, as far as I know, this is the first to replicate the SNES game’s music composition features.

Though BassAceGold hasn’t released a demo for the application, he has put up this video to show off the project after having worked on it for only two days. The audio seems off-sync due to an issue with the emulator, not Mario Paint Composer, according to the programmer.

It won’t be long before you can begin putting together Mario Paint renditions of “Dr. Wily Stage 1” and “What Is Love?” on your DS!
