Mega Man and Protoman Mega Buster vases by Jonathan Bilski. Kinda “tribute”-ish, kinda “I hunted and killed Mega Man and here’s the trophy I took” -ish. I like them! They almost look subtle enough that you’d have to look close to know they were game-related.

Pushmo puzzles of Mega Man 2’s Robot Masters and Mega Man himself (click for larger image and working QR codes). Can Airman be beaten in puzzle form?
I definitely didn’t need nine more Pushmo puzzles to deal with, but Daily Pushmo provides anyway. This isn’t exactly a problem I mind having.

Apparently, there was really an official Mega Man game about a jetpack-wearing Mega Man delivering Christmas presents to kids, occasionally picking up Christmas cake to refuel his rocket, naturally.
Capcom probably thought it could get away with random junk like that because nobody was paying attention to cell phone games. And, of course, it was totally right.

Uploader Mega Rock says these assets are evidence of an unfinished polygonal Mega Man Battle Network 5 (the released version is 2D, in the style of the other Battle Networks). Here’s a character model also found in the ROM:

So… I guess Star Force was built on some of the same code that was going to be used in this? And the team just left all the old stuff in there? Weird.

“Crystal Catacomb” by Orioto. It’s not often that you see Mega Man 5 fanart! But it’s not uncommon to see utterly lovely digital paintings of game scenes by Orioto.

Looks like this is going to be the next thing for people to make weirdo user-generated content with. If you haven’t seen it before, it lets you assemble a character out of shapes, and then move that character around by pulling it and flinging it forward with the stylus.
I like how Mega Man is constantly shooting a stream of bullets a few inches out in front of him. I’m also digging his crab walk.
This game is really weird.

tags / picture lives / jc / nintendo 3ds / gaming / eshop / mega manUdon’s Mega Man Tribute book is loaded with Mega Man fanart from talented artists (including Ashley Davis, whose entry is beyond wonderful). The company couldn’t use all the art submitted to its recent contest, however, because given the current market for Mega Man, a 2000-page book would be unprofitable.
Deviant-Art user soul-rokkuman rounded up entries not chosen for the official book, and compiled them into a fanbook called Art Buster. You can download the massive 187MB PDF for free and browse through more Mega Man art than you can comfortably deal with right now. It’s as unabridged as it can be — that idiot Cutman got nowhere near this project.

The track is pretty dang listenable! And, as a nice bonus, the title of the album reminds me of Takahashi Meijin’s “We are Bomber-MEEEEEN!”, which is just a great thing to be reminded of.

Cut Man by Eric Kubli. A non MML3-related Mega Man post?! Is that even possible this week? Nope — I have to take this opportunity to mention the “100,000 Strong for Bringing Back Mega Man Legends 3” campaign that people have been bombarding our tips inbox with.
Anyway, back to Cut Man, oh my god, I could not stop watching this video about his incompetence yesterday:
“I’m going to make paper dolls out of you!” And if you haven’t seen it yet, you need to watch this Pharaoh Man clip. JC and I were for real LOL-ing over it.

Inafune, who served as the producer for the Mega Man series before his departure from Capcom last October, commented on the cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3 on his blog (translated by Andriasang):
“The decision for the cancelation was out of my sphere, but as someone who took part in the development, I’d like to convey something to the staff: I’m sorry that I couldn’t be of assistance. … I’m truly sorry I couldn’t take part until the end.”
Inafune went on to say that he had hoped to play the Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype Version demo that was supposed to release on the 3DS’s eShop, but that, too, was canned for no discernible reason. :o/

“Tron’s Favorite” by Ashley Davis. I know I’ve posted a lot of her artwork recently, but when a super cute Tron Bonne/Servbot piece like this shows up online, I’d feel irresponsible not sharing it. How can I not post something like this?
This piece is part of UDON Entertainment’s Mega Man Tribute book, which will be available in an $80 hardcover edition at Comic-Con (or from UDON). There’s also a much more affordable softcover version up on Amazon for pre-order.
