One of the best Smash images is now a shirt ⊟

You can get one of the most compelling Smash Bros. scenes — Mega Man standing on top of a Gogoat as he prepares to swing a Home-run Bat — as a tee, hoodie, sticker, smartphone case, etc. This is all thanks to Sam Smith, who took the original screenshot, created a pixelart version, and uploaded the design to Redbubble.

Thinkgeek’s Mega Man Mega Buster ⊟

Man, it’s got lights on the arm and the barrel, for when you shoot or charge. “Hold in the trigger, though, and you’ll watch the power meter fill and the sound intensify until you release the trigger, firing a charged shot!”

This is the ideal toy for me. I just want to wear one of these all the time – all slamming into my toast with my useless arm, because I refuse to take this off.

This ships in December for $80 from Thinkgeek. Via Protodude!

E3 megaton: Mighty Final Fight, Gargoyle’s Quest 2, Street Fighter 2010 coming to 3DS VC ⊟
Capcom just announced a bunch of Virtual Console games on the first day of E3. I cannot believe this happened, and I love it.
So! SD fighter Mighty Final Fight, platformer RPG (and fucking cool game) Gargoyle’s Quest 2, and game I don’t remember all that well Street Fighter 2010 will be released on VC for 3DS in North America and Europe. Europe will also get the Mega Man Game Boy games around August.
Wii U gets Mega Man Battle Network 1, 2, and 3, Mega Man Zero 1 and 2, and Battle Chip Challenge from GBA, and Breath of Fire, Demon’s Crest, Mega Man 7, and Mega Man X3.
This is a whooooole bunch of games – something to consider when you start writing your comment about “ugh, not (game you wanted).”

Fan team aims to make Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype in Unity ⊟

Mega Man Legends 3 refuses to die, except for that time it totally died. The latest group to prop it up Weekend at Bernies style is the Jisaku Dash project (via Protodude), which is making a playable game in Unity – using official character models from the MML3 Devroom.

Surprise: the gameplay footage is looking pretty spot-on! And another surprise: this weird trailer is really fun.

Mega May overview ⊟

Here’s a nice intro to all the “Mega May” Game Boy games Capcom has released on 3DS Virtual Console! Lots of music, lots of footage, and some explanation of each one.

If you like it, you should listen to our latest podcast! So much Mega Man talk in there. So much. Too much? A lot.

Review: Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge

[Guest writer Mohammed Taher, president of Brave Wave Productions, super Mega Man fan, and Club Tiny contributor, offered us this review of the first Game Boy Mega Man game, now available on 3DS Virtual Console. Naturally, his review gives special attention to the music!]

Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge came out in 1991 and is the first entry in the portable series, out roughly four years after the original Mega Man on the NES. I favor the Japanese title Rockman World, as it draws a clear line between the console and handheld entries, so I’ll be using it throughout this compact review.

For the uninitiated, the gimmick in Rockman World games is to mix up two classic games’ bosses, a theme that reoccurs up until Rockman World 5, which introduces totally new bosses and stage themes (but that’s a story for another time). So, Rockman World 1 brings four bosses from Mega Man 1 (Cut Man, Elec Man, Fire Man, Ice Man) and four others from Mega Man 2 (Quick, Flash, Bubble, Heat). It’s an interesting formula, which Capcom revisited with the Mega Drive game in a different form.

I count myself as a die-hard Classic Mega Man fan, but always focused on the NES entries and somehow forgot that the series has a number of good games on Game Boy. I played Rockman World 1 for the first time when it came out on 3DS eShop a few years ago, and it almost put me off from playing the rest of the portable games.

It’s really not good.

Here’s the full Mega May schedule ⊟

After today’s release of Mega Man Xtreme on the North American Virtual Console, Capcom will follow with sequential releases throughout May. Next week, Mega Man II and III will be released; Mega Man IV follows on May 15; Mega Man V on May 22; and Xtreme 2 on May 29.

Capcom picked a good month for this promotion, because there are a lot of Thursdays in it.

Mega Man Xtreme is the first “Mega May” VC game ⊟

Your votes were tallied, and Capcom’s first Game Boy Mega Man release in May is… Mega Man Xtreme, which isn’t quite as bad as releasing one of the numbered ones out of numerical order, I guess. It’s out on the eShop in North America today.

Mega Man Xtreme is a Game Boy Color game containing stages from the SNES Mega Man X and Mega Man X2. I’ve never played it! I’m struggling to remember if I’ve played any of the GB Mega Mans, so anything that comes out this month in that series is going to elicit a “huh, neat!” from me.

Here’s why we need another Mega Man cartoon ⊟

Two reasons:

  1. We need more Cut Man shenanigans
  2. We need Lamar Abrams to work on the show, so he can incorporate these character designs he just posted (he has one for Roll, too!)

Since that’s probably not going to happen, I’ll settle for buying copies of Remake and watching the cartoon that Abrams is already contributing to, Steven Universe.

Mega Man Game Boy games coming to VC in May ⊟
Capcom announced plans to put all the unreleased Mega Man Game Boy games on Virtual Console throughout the month of “Mega May.” That means Mega Man 2, 3, 4, 5, Xtreme, and Xtreme 2, which is way more VC games than usually come out in a month.
There’s a poll on Capcom-Unity to determine which of those will come out first. I just voted for 2 because why would you release them out of order? Why would you do that. They have numbers on them. (For real, I’m not complaining – anyone who puts any number of VC games on 3DS is doing all right by me)
The comments on that post are, as comments tend to be, way overreaching, with people requesting new games, Battle Network games, or new Battle Network games instead of the emulated Game Boy games that are actually happening.

Let’s say that, if we have all seven Dragon Balls right here, right now, and Shen Long comes up and says, ‘What’s your wish?’ My wish would be, give me all the right tools, people, and environment to create Legends 3.

Keiji Inafune, recounting his Dragon Ball Z fanfiction continuing desire to see Mega Man Legends 3 completed, in an interview with USGamer’s Jeremy Parish.

He said that since Capcom still owns the IP he can’t just make it, but that he’s confident he’d be able to get the team together, both from Capcom and outside, if given the opportunity to finish the cancelled 3DS project. But would he be able to convince Yamcha to join him on another adventure?
