“Famicom Age” by Mochizuki Gohei (click for a larger image). When you’re a kid and you’re hanging out at your friend’s house after school, drinking orange juice, reading comics, and taking turns playing Mega Man 2, it never occurs to you how difficult it will be to have an afternoon even half this fun once you’re an adult.

“Heat!!! Hyadain Rockman Remix” by Hyadain, subtitles by enigmaopoeia. Hyadain took Heat Man’s theme from Mega Man 2 and made it… not sexy exactly, but at least sexual. Filthy, in fact.

Mega Man 2’s FCEUX “Laser Eyes” Lua script. That Super Mario Bros. mouse control script? This destroys it. The FCEUX emulator also includes this script for Mega Man 2.

Like the Mario script, this allows you to pick up and move sprites around, including Mega Man, enemies, items, bullets, and even explosions. This also adds an (optional) display of info about each sprite, and more importantly, laser eyes.

Pushing the select button will shoot a beam from Mega Man’s eyes that automatically aims at enemies and will destroy anything in one hit. It’s fast enough to blow up Mega Man’s own Mega Buster shots as they come out of his arm.

Okay, if you’re not convinced, how about this: You can use this to pull Mega Man through those annoying beam screens in Quick Man’s stage. You can use this to go through boss gates backwards.

-H- Get equipped with HORRIBLE IDEA →

Mega Man 2 is now out for iPhone. The system with no buttons. Also, it apparently doesn’t have music. Or sound of any kind.

Also, the gameplay has undergone certain “improvements.” Says NeoGAF’s civilstrife: “Airman himself went down without a scratch. I literally stood in one place and shot jammed on my mega buster until he died. Took about 7 seconds.”

Mario vs. Airman is a Super Mario Bros. hack that puts Mario into Mega Man 2’s Airman stage. I like this, because it allows you to appreciate in fine-grained detail the differences between the two games’ movement styles, and also because it’s a new way to enjoy two NES classics.

The file can be found at auntie pixelante, whose post about it is way smarter than this one.

Detail from Rockman 2 artwork (correctly identified by commenters as NOT A PRINT AD WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU JC) found at Carl’s Capcom Unity blog. In this ad, the Robot Masters learn for the first time that MEGA MAN IS COMPLETELY RAW. The dude is ripping Wood Man’s mechanical guts out with his bare hands. And you thought he just absorbed their powers automatically.

This is amusing, but I’m glad Capcom didn’t continue in this direction with their promotional or concept art. Because I can’t handle a Man this Mega.

I used to customize action figures as a little hobby, but I never did anything that could beat this guy’s Air Man. Daaaaaaaamn.
