Tiny Cartridge 3DS

Pre-order that amazing Solid Snake Nendoroid ⊟

"He is the first ever Nendoroid designed to be posed in a prone position, allowing you to display him sneaking around just like in the game!" Come on. You have to give props to Good Smile Company for that. Also suggested: giving them some money (MSRP ¥4500/$45) so you can have one of these.

GSC is accepting pre-orders on its own, but you can also get it from Amiami, J-List, and wherever else you like to buy Japanese toys. It ships in November.

Revolver Oshawott figurine created by Camille Young. If you’re quick, you can join in on the auction at TheSpeedGamers to win this piece. I’m unsure how the auction works, though — I think you make a donation to ACT Today (Autism Care and Treatment)?

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D's inside art in Japan, and a shot of the limited edition “snake camouflage” system (that's just textured plastic, not actual snakeskin leather — click for a larger image).
Of course, this artwork for the game’s eco-friendly box isn’t on the U.S. version. Pouts all around.
Randy H. at Tikisaurus managed to purchase MGS 3D's premium package after winning a lottery for the bundle. You can see more photos and an unboxing video here.

Just what we needed: more super limited edition Metal Gear Solid 3DSes in Japan (click for larger images).

These one-of-a-kind White 3DS systems feature illustrations by Metal Gear Solid artist Yoji Shinkawa, and autographs by series creator/director Hideo Kojima.

And if you haven’t seen them yet, Konami also teamed up with Uniqlo to sell limited edition MGS shirts in Japan.

MGS 3D’s “Snake Camouflage” system and Big Boss pop up at Hooters Tokyo as part of a promotional event for the game (click for larger images of Big Boss creepin’).

It seems like an odd space to launch the game at first, but Konami has teamed up with the wings restaurant to feature Hooters-themed magazines in the Japanese version of the game. In the U.S. version, we get virtual copies of Nintendo Power instead.

Strangely not the first time we’ve linked a Japanese Hooters and Konami thing here!

Tiny Cartridge, the Metal Gear Solid 3D Photo Camo. There’s not really anywhere Snake wouldn’t totally stand out in a bright blue jumpsuit, but the game charitably allows it to function as decent camo “in water.”
This can be your circa-1964 CIA operative dressed in a pattern of a smiling blue cartoon face if you pick up MGS3D. According to this somewhat reliable Joystiq review, it’s a pretty good translation! Even though I’ve been reviewing Vita games for the last two weeks and thus my sense of what’s possible in a handheld game is all out of whack, I’m still impressed with the conversion of one of my favorite games ever to a portable format.

Metal Gear Solid 3D demo this Thursday

It’s rare that we know about an eShop release date before it happens, but Konami announced today that the Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D demo will hit the North American eShop this Thursday. This is where I admit that I’m thinking about buying a Circle Pad Pro in advance of this demo…

If it doesn’t work out, at least you can play this rad Metal Gear Pushmo puzzle!

Another shot of MGS 3D's “Snake Camouflage” 3DS, accompanied by Hori's green accessories for the game.
Acquiring the limited edition system will require a good deal of cash and luck, but the person who shot/posted this photo needed neither — one of the special perks of being Japanese actress, Kojima Productions spokesperson, and Metal Gear Solid voice talent Yumi Kikuchi.

Metal Gear Solid 3D bundle with the special embossed “Snake Camouflage” system and two clear folders.

As I feared, production for this is extremely limited — you’ll only be able to purchase one through the Japan-only Konami Style e-Shop, and you’ll need to have a winning ticket in a raffle before you can even put down your ¥22,980 yen (¥298) to buy it. :o/

U.S. box for Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater (click for a larger image), which releases here on February 21 — two weeks before the Japanese and European ship date.
This enhanced port of the PS2 game includes support for the Circle Pad Pro, which debuts in North America on February 7 alongside Resident Evil: Revelations. And in case you missed this related news, Nintendo’s own Kid Icarus: Uprising will also have a control option for the accessory when it hits stores on March 23.

A shot of the snakeskin-style 3DS set to be included with the limited edition Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D system bundle coming to Japan on March 8.
Hideo Kojima offered his Twitter followers this cropped peek at the special 3DS and its “embossed snake pattern” last night. Like many others, I presumed the bundle would include either a standard system, or a simple branded 3DS similar to that cover from Hori’s accessory line for the game. So, this is a nice surprise!
Expect Japanese details for the bundle on January 20.
