Super Metroid poster by Ian Wilding. It’s a little different from the “minimalist” thing that’s happening with a lot of posters/fanart, but it’s still simple, and just really nice to look at. Plus, it serves as a reminder that Super Metroid exists, which is an important public service.
The print is available in a variety of sizes from Wilding’s Society6 shop.

You might recall Chris Furniss’ “31 Days of Zero Suit Samus” series — a set of illustrations examining the everyday life of Metroid’s heroine. We made sure to feature some of them here a year ago.

Anyway, he’s looking to put together a hardcover book featuring the entire series, plus commentary, bonus illustrations, and tributes from a lot of awesome people (Mare Odomo, Ashley Davis, Zac Gorman, Jon Kay, and Corey “Reyyy” Lewis, to name a few).

Before he can do that, though, he’s looking to raise $20,000 for a print run. That might seem a lot, but he’s already hit more than $15,000 in pledges at Kickstarter, and he’s got 8 days left to raise money. Get over there and put down some money if you want to reserve a copy (and get some other nice extras with it, too).

Skyward Sword and Metroid: Other M outfits for Dynasty Warriors VS. (click for larger images). It’s not surprising to see these costumes pop up here, since Tecmo Koei worked with Nintendo on Other M, and also featured Metroid elements in Dead or Alive Dimensions.

This one actually has a chance of releasing in North America, since Samurai Warriors Chronicles for 3DS did!

Samus Aran figures by Good Smile Company shown at Comiket 81, based on Metroid: Other M. I don’t really need a Zero Suit Samus in my house, but that Varia Suit Samus is pretty great. And you don’t have to tell people it’s from Metroid: Other M if you don’t want to.

(Note: I don’t want to talk about Metroid: Other M.)

“Happy Birthday, Samus” by Chris Furniss, in the style of his 31 Days of Zero Suit Samus project. Saturday was the 25th anniversary of the Japanese release of the first Famicom/NES game! When was the last time you went back and tried to play through that one? I attempt it periodically, but I get lost without automaps…
Far easier than getting through Metroid is just reading this great, longform blog post by Jeremy Parish. Do I feel bad linking to someone’s long, thoughtful article with a couple of quick sentences in a fanart post? Of course I do.

Zero Suit Samus Gives a TED Lecture” and “Zero Suit Samus Loves Dim Sum” by Chris Furniss, part of a series of “31 Days of Zero Suit Samus.” Furniss is drawing a Samus a day in response to reader prompts, and is selling prints of each of them on Etsy.

The latest drawing brings up an interesting philosophical question: if she’s wearing neither her Zero Suit nor her Power Suit, how can you tell she’s Zero Suit Samus?

Our artist friend needs some money, and you need the cutest Metroid art of all time, so she’s selling 100 prints of this artwork originally created for the anniversary of a Denver game store. The prints are $15 each, plus $5 shipping (or $10 internationally).
Speaking of buying Ashley’s art, she also announced that you’ll be able to purchase a print of any art from her No Marios Allowed blog, including — oh man — this new Shantae piece.

Sad Samus reacts to Metroid Dread’s absence from E3 yet again. Cheer up, Samus! I heard there was a Metroid-themed Wii U demo that was shown, so there’s that.

Hey, remember Minitroid, Tokinsom’s scaled-down, pixelated Metroid game? If not, watch the video. If so, watch the video! (It’s a new one).

Okay, now that we’re all just kind of staring at the screen in awe, here’s the rad news: you can download a playable tech demo now! The not so rad news (for certain people typing this post out right now) is that you’re going to need Windows to play it.

Dead or Alive Dimensions x Metroid: Other M collaboration trailer. This video concentrates more on Ridley and the Metriod-themed stage, but who knows, maybe Samus Aran will be an unlockable fighter?
