Tiny Cartridge 3DS

First footage of Mighty Switch Force, WayForward’s action platformer coming to the 3DS eShop. If you’re in Europe, you can watch this same trailer in stereoscopic 3D via the eShop, but even with this video, you can get an idea of how the background/foreground will look.

It’s definitely one of the more exciting eShop titles (though there aren’t that many announced… hopefully we’ll hear about more at the Nintendo Conference?).

First screenshots for Mighty Switch Force, the latest from WayForward’s downloadable series of Mighty games, releasing to the Nintendo 3DS’s eShop.

The sidescroller puts you in control of Officer Patricia Wagon, a cybernetic peace-keeping robot of the Galactic Penal Squad, who is hunting down Space Hooligans:

"By activating her helmet siren, Wagon can signal HQ to reform the terrain around her in 3D space! Even the third dimension can’t hide criminal ne’er-do-wells from the long arm of the law! Enter the mechanical shape-shifting, dimension melding world of Mighty Switch Force and blow crime away!"

Now two of my most anticipated 3DS/DS titles for the remainder of the year (assuming this releases in 2011) are from WayForward — the other being Aliens: Infestation.

WayForward reveals new Mighty eShop game

Along with “actively pursuing” a portable Virtual Console release for GBC platformer Shantae, WayForward Technology is working on another eShop release from its Mighty series, Mighty Switch Force.

Developed by the studio’s Contra 4 team, the 3DS eShop game mixes platforming, shooting, and block-switching elements, as well as themes like “T-rexes with eye lasers, wall-eyed fishmen, jet-pack cats, popcorn explosions, belly dance transformations,  vocaloid J-Pop ballads, hottie pirates, and whipping puppies with your hair”.

Like most of the studio’s original properties, Mighty Switch Force features a female protagonist, an “artificial person” named Patricia Wagons seeking to apprehend the five Hooligan SIsters (“criminal masterminds who masquerade as ditzy girls”) while blasting their Space Hooligans with her pellet gun.
