If A Link to the Past had the drawing feature ⊟
Considering all the ROM hacks people have made for A Link to the Past, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone eventually got around to throwing this A Link Between Worlds feature into the SNES game. Until then, we’ll have to settle for this fun GIF from Johan Vinet — definitely follow his Tumblr for lots of cute chiptunes and sprites (e.g. Strider, TMNT, and Streets of Rage)

Mighty No. 9 Famicom cart ⊟
Whoaaa… I must have missed when the Famicom was added to the list of this project’s Kickstarter stretch goals — it’s not surprising when you consider that backers pledged to get Mighty No. 9 on every platform under the sun (including the only two that really matter, 3DS and PS Vita :oP ).
Wait, this isn’t real. It’s actually another lovely mock-up by Nightmare Bruce! You can see more pics and follow him on Tumblr here.

Next week’s big E3 announcement …
In a perfect world. Unfortunately, if it wasn’t clear from all the conflicts tearing apart countries right now or from the lack of remappable buttons for 3DS Virtual Console games (both equally troubling challenges our generation faces), we do not live in a perfect world.
We do not live in a world where Nintendo will unveil a Mother/Earthbound compilation and limited edition 3DS system for North America at E3 — just one where people like Mother Mazza will mock-up these fantasies for people to post on Tumblr. The artist also created a mock-up for a Sonic the Hedgehog comp and portable, but it’s not like the 3DS isn’t already getting a butt-load of Sonic games.
[Update: Nintendo will put out an Eevee 3DS XL in Japan on May 15]
Poké Ball and Game Boy-themed 3DS mock-ups
Just posting these with the hope that someone will feel inspired to modify their system with similar looks. I really like the Poké Ball design (both are from Wenis), but I’d prefer Nintendo of America bringing over th Charizard XL. Hey, we got the Pikachu XL with Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, so it could happen with Pokémon X and Y!
Downton Abbey as an SNES game
While there’s not nearly enough of the feisty Dowager Countess of Grantham in here, and the idea of Mrs. Patmore poisoning Cousin Matthew is preposterous, I can’t help but love this anyway for Bill Kiley’s fantastic chip arrangement of the Downton Abbey theme.
Who knew that Taito released a Famicom game based on The Secret World of Arrietty way back in 1986? How is that even possible, when the film just came out two years ago? Oh, right, it’s another mock-up from SimplyAwful.
"The story loosely follows the book and movie in that Arrietty must go through many trials before she can be a full fledged Borrower. This includes finding everyday items like sugar and herbs as well as battling (or escaping from) spiders, cats and, in one intense encounter, a bunch of stomping feet in a hallway!"

In fact, the site behind these mock-ups, SimplyAwful, is dedicated to making all sorts of custom labels for both real and fake games. There’s lots of hot stuff here.
Maybe someone will actually build a homebrew NES project based on these mock-ups at this weekend’s Adventure Time Game Jam (as detailed by the recently launched and Venus Patrol)? How math would that be?
