Famicom keyboard PC. The modder at Kansai Miyage Projects put a small-form-factor PC motherboard into the keyboard used for the Famicom programming suiteĀ Family Basic, and even appropriated the cartridge for more space.
Too bad he decided to put Windows 2000 on there, but I guess I understand the appeal behind using something antiquated and impractical. If you want to try it yourself, or if you just want to stare at some pictures of circuitboards and whatnot, you can see in-progress pictures and video at Kansai Miyage Projects.

In addition to adding extraneous gears and a necessary layer of gold paint, Thretris obviously added a line-out mod so he could use the distinctive console to make music with LSDJ. Check out some more images here! People still think steampunk stuff is neat, right? I mean, gears!

Custom GameCube by Thretris. While painted, LED’d GameCubes aren’t that uncommon, I love that Thretris hooked this one up in a studio setting, with a Game Boy Player and LSDJ, to make a sort of Game Boy sound studio out of it.
In a weird way, it makes me want to have a GameCube around, just as an object.

WiiPod MP3 player by Goteking. Wow, this is pretty impressive — Goteking managed to mod an MP3 player to fit into a Wiimote.

Just kidding he just crammed an iPod shuffle in there.

Just kidding it’s not actually an iPod shuffle.

Piston Honda bass guitar.
If you’re wondering about the Japanese boxer’s crabby expression, he’s still upset about all the racial epithets directed at Asians in Grand Torino.

Another custom Ninjatown DS Lite.
This unique system, presumably painted by Shawnimals head and Ninjatown creator Shawn Smith, looks completely different from the other custom Ninjatown DS that Gamestop gave away. The handheld was auctioned off at Penny Arcade’s recent Child’s Play charity dinner.
So long as we’re talking about personalized portables, we’re happy to share that ~sol-Escape updated his owl-adorned DS with a little color, butterflies, and what looks like either an incomplete quote or emo ramblings.
Kids today! With their owls and their emos and their whatnot.

I would love to acquire one of these and play an evil game of Final Fantasy Adventure. Hardware hacker and chiptune artist Nonfinite didn’t stop at just creating a red-screened system:
Nonfinite says that DIY kits and pre-modded units will be available for purchase at the upcoming Blip Festival event. Presumably, he will also eventually sell the systems through his online shop.
You can see more photos and a video of the handhelds, at the above link. The blue/purple one, in particular, looks like the fucking business.

Nintendo 64 in a Wii shell. Maybe this guy’s Wii broke, because otherwise he just ruined a Wii.
This is like a Virtual Console system that only plays the worst games on the Virtual Console. And it can be yours for a bid starting at fifty dollars.

I totally forgot about this thing until I saw the PSP/SNES-controller setup on Hack A Day. You can skip to the 1:15 mark to see the mod in action.
The modder appears to be using NES ROMs of Super Mario Bros. 1 and 3 to demonstrate his work — notice that he hits the L-button on the DS to rewind his shameful death.

The Legend of Zelda NES Cart modified by Kotomi to fit a Fami-clone’s innards and play Famicom games.
When I grow up, I want to be an amazing French modder.
