Happy New Year, Isab- ⊟
Don’t forget to drop into your Animal Crossing: New Leaf town tonight and pick up your Sparkling Cider from Isabelle. Credit to Birthday Town for the pic.
Are you going to count down the new year with Crazy Redd and the gang? Who are you hoping to kiss when the clock strikes midnight? Hugh? Or Lloid if you’re lucky?! Maybe even sneak a smooch from Reese when Cyrus isn’t looking?
Merry Christmas from Tiny Cartridge! ⊟
Since no Christmas morning is complete without someone giving you clothes you didn’t ask for, here’s a special Animal Crossing: New Leaf tee designed by Das Fuzzlez. And here are two other Tiny Cartridge shirts, and an ugly Christmas sweater, for good measure. Joys be thine.
How’s your Christmas going? What were your standout gifts?
Merry Christmas from Nintendo and the Nooks ⊟
Is it too late to take part in Animal Crossing: New Leaf's Toy Day event? If not, now’s a great time to return to your town and visit all your old friends.
Dress up as Ravio in Animal Crossing: New Leaf ⊟
The bunny hat makes this. Extra points if you transform your house into an item rental shop (because Zelda games work on a points system). Big ups to DustBowler49 for the QR codes and pic.
A new shop opened in this New Leaf town ⊟
Wow, buying organic is really expensive. And you thought Tom Nook was the only guy you had to worry about ripping you off! S/o to Candace Crossing for the pics.
You know what’s not hella expensive right now? Animal Crossing: New Leaf! It’s back in stock with a big discount at Amazon, available for $24.99 — The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is still on sale too for $34.96.
Animal Crossing for $25, new Zelda for $35 ⊟
If you hop over to Amazon, you can grab Animal Crossing: New Leaf for just $24.98, which is the cheapest I can remember seeing the game. [Update: Aw, the sale ended. It’s back up to $35.]
And The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds has a slight discount, too — grab that for $34.96. I don’t think you need us to remind you these are both great games; it’s not like we haven’t put up a million posts about them.
12% off almost everything at J-List (including this Isabelle figure!) ⊟
Two things: one, through Nov. 29, just about everything at J-List is 12% off. And two: the Nendoroid Isabelle is back in stock! It’s the best time yet to buy one of these cuties (especially since you, like, couldn’t for so long due to low stock).
If you’re buying Animal Crossing plush toys, you get an additional 10% off, and the 12% discount, when you buy two. Just saying.
Animal Crossing 2014 diary ⊟
It’s not a Hobonichi Techoooooooo, but this lovely planner/”pocket diary” would be a nice way to organize your life in 2014. If, uh, you could get the Japanese Club Nintendo points together to buy it.
New Animal Crossing: New Leaf art anthology ⊟
These two pieces (by e1n and rockets?) come from Artisan Ordinance, a 38-page anthology collecting Animal Crossing artwork from more than a dozen artists. It’s a pretty expensive book, priced at $20, but the art I’ve seen for it so far looks great.
If you have a zine or anything else you think we’d be interested in, don’t forget to let us know!
DJ KK plush and more Animal Crossing toys ⊟
Oh no, there’s too much cute Animal Crossing stuff up on J-List now, including this absolutely essential plush DJ KK with turntables. And an Isabelle that smiles? Completely unfair. All the plushes are $22 each, with the exception of KK, who is $24.
And in non-plush Animal Crossing toys, J-List also has these two wonderful stamp sets, with a bunch of Animal Crossing characters and items that are also rubber stamps, and can be stored inside these little houses. Swoon.
Life after Swapnote ⊟
With Swapnote shuttered and the chances for a Super Smash Bros. playable role looking slim, the 3DS app’s mascot has to look for a new home. There’s a new and very cute Tumblr following Nikki’s Adventures in Animal Crossing as the ex-postmistress tries to find her way.
It looks like she’s landed on her feet. With few funds to her name, Nikki lived in a tent for a while, but at least now she has a house (and a lot of debt to go along with it). Still, there are moments when Nikki’s reminded of what she’s lost — not just her home or countless penpals, but her purpose. It could be a long time before she really recovers from that.
We all knew what we were getting into when we picked up Animal Crossing: New Leaf, that despite our neighbors’ efforts to make best friends out of us, we weren’t permanent additions to the town. Make us mayor if you want, but it won’t keep us here — we’ll eventually wander off to the next distraction, the next video game world, leaving Isabelle to keep the town running.
Even if we ever decide to load up New Leaf again, see how everyone is holding up, it will never be like it once was. You can’t go home again.
Thanks to @nameoftheyear for sending over the link.
