I expect Nicalis will bring this to E3, and we’ll learn about the project’s upcoming release there — provided that the news isn’t drowned out by dozens of announcements. Perhaps we’ll hear more about Cave Story+, Aban Hawkins & the 1001 Spikes, and Ikachan, too.

It took more than two years before I finally played Knytt Stories, Nicklas “Nifflas” Nygren’s beloved exploration platformer (a.k.a. Metroidvania), but I finally jumped my way through the pack-in story “The Machine” thanks to its DS port. Even in this beta form with its long initial loading time and missing sound effects, it was fantastic!

According to Rodrigo Roman Castro, who adapted the indie title for the dual screens, you can even install more official stories and user-created levels, provided you convert the music tracks first.

Why wait for NightSky to play a Nifflas game on a Nintendo system when you can do it right now with Knytt Stories on the DS (if you have a flashcart)?
