Animal Crossing’s Villager receives his Smash Bros. invite

From what I hear, y’all went nuts with your Villager memes this week, which I’m sad I missed (hardly checked Tumblr during E3). I love that people have turned this unassuming guy into a stone-cold killer. And I love this strip by KakuJomics/Bryan Lacie.

Oh, here is an eight-minute video all about the 3DS and Wii U versions of Super Smash Bros., with portions devoted to Mega Man, Villager, and Wii Fit’s trainer:

Reggie’s New Leaf house and Town Pass Card

I’m disappointed that I forgot to take advantage of this, but Nintendo invited E3 attendees to hang out near its booth and receive the Animal Crossing: New Leaf home for Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime via StreetPass. AngryGiraffe, though, was able to get a peek at his virtual home.

Apparently he sleeps on bedsheets and pillowcases that have his own face on them…

There were like a million Animal Crossing things I wanted to post during E3 but didn’t get a chance to, so expect a lot more New Leaf junk.

Let’s meet your Pokemon X and Y friends

Nintendo posted a lot of new info about Pokemon X and Y this morning, including details on the first Gym Leader you’ll fight from the new Kalos region, Viola, from Santalune City (known for its large fountain and park benches).

Players will learn about Viola by first meeting her older sister, Alexa, a journalist working for a publishing house in Lumiose City. Alexa insists that her sister will be happy to meet players visiting Santalune City.

A professional photographer who specializes in Pokémon photography, Viola presides over the Santalune City Gym, whose interior is constructed from threads like spiderwebs, strung together tightly above the darkness. Players will need to find a safe path through these threads, and will receive useful advice from Viola when they battle her.

You can see Viola, a new trailer, and more details about the game after the break:

Phoenix Wright 5 accessories

The pouch ($19.90) and 3DS XL sticker ($9.90) on Play-Asia may not be the exact accessories included with the Japanese special edition, but they’re way cheaper.

Now, if you’d like that special edition with its own 3DS case, etc. Play-Asia has that as well. It’s $124.99, and of course the game won’t work in your US/EU 3DS. You can even get the one with the Phoenix figure.

Man, Japan has all these different special editions and we aren’t even getting a box. Not that I mind; the most important thing is that I get to play that game.

Starbucks and McDonald’s, among others, provide about 28,000 Wi-Fi access points, which are connected automatically to Nintendo 3DS, in the U.S. and 24,000 in Europe.

We are going to perform a system update that introduces a framework that uses these access points as StreetPass relay stations by this autumn.

This will involve taking a Nintendo 3DS system in Sleep Mode to an access point which will then connect automatically and send StreetPass data to a server. At the same time, the Nintendo 3DS system also receives the StreetPass data of another user from the server.

In this setting, data is not exchanged directly, but rather through a StreetPass relay station. Hence, as opposed to, say, Person A and Person B directly exchanging game data, data will be transmitted in sequence from Person A to Person B, and then onto Person C and so on.

Satoru Iwata introduces a new StreetPass Relay feature for 3DS. Basically, you go to Starbucks, then someone ELSE goes to Starbucks, and you both get Streetpasses, even if you’re not there at the same time.

So maybe American people will get to get some Streetpasses now, even if they’re not at E3!

Pac-Man Battle Royale coming to 3DS eShop

…and Wii U, and PS3, Xbox, and PC, this winter! It’s part of Pac-Man Museum, a collection that includes who cares what else. If you’ve never played Battle Royale, it’s a four-player arcade game where each player controls a Pac-Man, rushing to grab power pellets and eat one another.

It’s incredible. INCREDIBLE. And it’s never been available outside of arcades. This is the best announcement of E3, no doubt.

I guess Shin Megami Tensei IV’s NPCs aren’t really into mobile gaming
Had a lot of fun with this E3 demo! I have a feeling that this will be another Atlus game we post lots of screenshots from.

Animal Crossing candy with magnets

Available for $3.50 at Jlist, each package of Animal Crossing: New Leaf candy comes with a set of six character magnets. I have no idea what the candy’s like, but that’s not really the point, I guess.

Sonic Lost World 3DS trailer

The 3DS version of this new Sonic game looks surprisingly similar to the Wii U version! And looks pretty cool! Although I imagine it has the potential to make you super sick in 3D.

I haven’t played a Sonic game seriously in forever, but kinda thinking about giving this one a try.
