Here’s what Game Gear games look like on 3DS. You don’t have to have it running in a tiny window within a Game Gear frame — but if you do, you can change the color of the fake system to black, blue, yellow, or red. Is that enough for you to want to play within this tiny, impractical frame? It totally is for me!

You can also choose whether or not to have accurate screen ghosting, and set “performance” (I guess for accurate slowdown?).

Game Gear games will be out in March for Europe and Japan, including GG Shinobi, Dragon Crystal, and Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble.

Metal Gear Solid 3D “Photo Camo” of Luigi. Zach of Herro Nintendo 3DS found that this Luigi camo provides Snake with a 100% camo index in dark jungle environs!

So MGS3D is out this week. I expect to see lots of creative Photo Camos.

Mario Tennis Open boxart. It’s unnerving to imagine yourself at the center of a stadium, as hundreds of Shyguys and their black eyes watch you silently. At the end of a match, when you’re spent and you’ve tossed your racket aside, you look around to realize the other players have disappeared. Then the Shyguys descend.

Subtitled trailer for Etrian Odyssey IV. There are some images from the first-person dungeon crawler here, but while the background art from Studio Ghibli veteran Nizo Yamamoto is quite nice, the screens aren’t very inspiring. Maybe this looks better on the 3D display and in motion.

Tips and footage for Dillon’s Rolling Western, which released on the 3DS eShop this morning for $9.99 — more expensive than usual, but apparently this is a big release.

I’m pretty disappointed with the voiceover here; why couldn’t they get Cowboy Jed again? Anyway, here’s a shorter launch video for you to watch, too.

Even on 3DS, F.O.E.: Etrian Odyssey IV!

It’s been a great day for portable gamers, what with a new Nintendo Direct presentation starting in several hours, Good People Die announced for the U.S., and now Etrian Odyssey IV!

Early online reports say the game features a new difficulty setting (including a casual option) that you can adjust at any point, and will release in Japan this June.

The game’s staff revealed so far includes Trauma Center’s Daisuke Kanada as director, Studio Ghibli veteran Nizo Yamamoto as background artist, Shin Nagasawa on monster design, Yuji Himukai as character designer, and the legendary Yuzo Koshiro on sound.

Maybe we’ll hear more about it in Nintendo Direct!

3DS hack adds PS1 controller functionality. For super extra inconvenience, this hack builds a controller port into a Circle Pad Pro, meaning that the 3DS has to be even more unnecessarily bulky. I kind of love it.

Unfortunately, there are no instructions for doing this yourself. Fortunately, there was no damn way I was going to do this.
