Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition commercial airing in Japan, where this will release in a month.
There’s no word yet on whether this strange collaboration SRPG is headed to North America, but given the Nintendo DS’s near-empty slate and everyone’s love for pocket monsters, I’m betting we’ll hear something by E3.

Assorted character art from Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition. The kids with Eevees are the player characters; the rest are based on real Japanese historical figures. Chōsokabe Motochika, who died in 1599, most assuredly did not have two-tone bishounen hair, nor did he wear chains and opera gloves. And he definitely didn’t roll with a Dewott in his posse.
So I don’t care about these Koei strategy games in general, and I don’t really do Pokemon games, but put them together, and I am down.

Everyone expected this weekend’s rumored reveal for the latest entry of the catch-em-all series to be Pokemon Gray, but this weird thing is way more interesting!
If you’re unfamiliar with Koei’s original Nobunaga’s Ambition, it was a well-received strategy title that took place during Japan’s Sengoku/Warring States period — a popular setting for games lately, so it isn’t that much of a surprise that Nintendo wants to experiment with this era.
But mixing it with Pokemon? Yeah, that shit cray.
