It’s fitting that Muramasa was released on the Nintendo Wii. It’s a ‘style over substance’ game that is not likely to hold your attention for more than a few days. In other words, it’ll fit right in with the rest of the system’s library.

— An excerpt from RPGFan’s import review of Muramasa: The Demon Blade. I’ve long suspected that Muramasa was a shallow experience despite its dazzling presentation, but this statement is some straight-up malarkey.

I felt guilty sharing those bawdy shots of Momohime from Muramasa: The Demon Blade two weeks ago, as it seemed like a free pass for tons of traffic (90 percent of the time anyone notices our little site, it’s for NSFW junk), but I put it up anyway because JC and I loved the art.
Maybe this classy piece will make up for that cheap post.

NSFW: “Shura Momohime” by Muuten.
This fan art reveals much more of Muramasa: The Demon Blade's heroine Momohime than Vanillaware has so far shown off! The artist also has a version without the Yakuza-style tattoos (why would she have these anyway?), which makes her bottom look less oddly shaped.
"Musou Momohime":

Note that Shura and Musou are two of the game’s three modes, the former focused more on action gameplay while the latter places more emphasis on character leveling.

AsoBit Game City display for Oboro Muramasa. Vanillaware’s gorgeous action game launched on the 9th, and the feedback has been good. Like this one from the blogger at “Earlbox" (according to Akibablog’s translation):
"after all, beautiful dot picture is good. The movements of characters are very detailed and soft. Just great." Sounds great! He goes on: "…a frill that moves when Momohime jumps and hops is, god, wonderful (^^."
Oh. Maybe we’ll hear some non-perv impressions soon.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Oboro Muramasa) looks more and more marvelous each time I see it. Ninjas flying over rooftops, attached to kites? Sign me up for that shit. Kite ninjas were the only reason I even bothered playing through Taito’s terrible Wrath of the Black Manta.

This Vanillaware title is slated to ship sometime in 2009, though I expect it will be late in the year, considering its European release was recently pushed to Spring 2010. In the meantime, hit the above link for more screenshots and art, like this strange image:

What is even going on here?! Is that demon-giantess doing … booty claps (or “Miami claps,” as they call it in the ‘wood)? Could this be the first console title to feature booty claps? I can only hope!
