Chibiterasu plushes and pillows for sale →

If you’re way, way jealous of the people who picked up adorable, huggable Chibiterasu dolls and pillows at PAX East, now you can resolve that jealousy with a simple act of commerce. Capcom is selling limited quantities (about 100) of the plush doll and the pillow on its online store.

If you don’t get one of these, Capcom says SOTA Toys is working on another production run, which is available for pre-order from their site now. Jonathan Bilski from Things To Do In LA, however, warns that the SOTA version might be noticeably less cute.

Okami art DS Lite skin (click for a larger image). I rarely like any of these cheap, custom decals as most of them are tacky, but this design on a black system looks really slick. I didn’t even notice it was a skin at first!

On the Amazon product page for this sticker, I also spotted these limited edition Okamiden Silly Bandz.

Okamiden bento by AnnaTheRed. Look at that adorable sleeping Chibiterasu! He’s all red pepper, seaweed, and hanpen, and how is this possible.

Keep that cute, cute Chibiterasu image in your mind as you read my Joystiq review. It’s a positive review, but not so positive that it’ll satiate fanboys, so I’m nervous. Of course, I’m nervous when my reviews are too positive, or too negative, or too middling, or basically just when they’re on the internet.

Okamiden’s launch trailer. Between all the 3DS news lately and the meh-ish impressions I’ve heard from people about this, I totally forgot Okamiden releases this week.

Perhaps the entire Okami series is doomed to this sort of inattention — an Okami release approaches, fans long to play it on a newer system with controls/features that seem more adequate, then no one buys the damn thing.

Okamiden calendar wallpaper. Man, look at those adorable baby seahorse dragon things! Like Capcom USA, Capcom Japan is releasing classy wallpaper images — however, instead of meting them out one at a time, you can just download all three from the official Japanese website

The Japanese image for March uses the same art as the American image for December, so… I don’t know what the deal is here, calendar-wise.

Okamiden wallpapers. Capcom is releasing wallpaper images monthly, roughly coinciding with the Chinese zodiac. I didn’t even know the Chinese zodiac associated months with animals! Restaurant placemats failed to teach me that information. Thanks for the free education, Capcom!

The zodiac/calendar wallpaper is available in multiple sizes from Capcom-Unity. In addition, the less educational character wallpaper can be found on Facebook.

Okamiden Slippers, Face Mug available for import →

NCSX has the e-Capcom exclusive Chibiterasu face mug, revealed earlier this week, available for pre-order for a heartbreaking $50 (due to the terrible exchange rate and some kind of special costs associated with getting stuff from e-Capcom). If you need a mug, and you need it to look like a wolf god, there you go.

More importantly, the retailer is offering the Chibiterasu face slippers, featuring two fluffy, soft, smiling Chibiterasus that look up at you every time you take a step. I wish I’d never seen them, because now I feel their absence from my life. I’d want to hug my own feet all the time. They’re … $66 …

Okamiden fanart by Diana, part of another Capcom contest. The style makes Chibiterasu look kind of ethereal, as opposed to just a cute, decorated puppy. Not that there’s any problem with cute puppies. I don’t want rumors going around that we’re anti-puppy, because it just isn’t so.

Okamiden’s U.S. and JP boxarts compared, preorder items revealed. If you reserve this DS follow-up to Okami through GameStop, you’ll receive a paintbrush stylus and screen cleaner when it releases this March 15th.

And if you already have enough branded bonuses accumulated from six years of Nintendo DS purchases, you can probably pick it up from Amazon without all that stuff and for a buck or two cheaper.

Capcom is also running a contest in which you can win Okamiden, a Nintendo 3DS (!), Chibiterasu plushies, and more when you try out its Goblin Mask Facebook app.

Okamiden’s Chibiterasu plays with a DS Lite.

Though Okamiden won’t hit the States until next March, the Okami sequel came out in Japan this week. I hope our North American commercials (if Capcom U.S.A. decides to produce any) also feature the cutest white puppy ever:

Engraved Okami/Okamiden DS Lite by Pablo Leal. Pablo created the superb Layton DS Lite featured previously, and wrote in to let us know about this one. Here’s how the unique effect is created: “I engraved the entire design and, after that, I added white paint inside the engraved holes, so the final result is a mix between a printed and a carved design.”

I’m inspired to start cuttin’ on my own DS, but I think the result would come out less “classy” and more “ruined forever.”

Okamiden’s Comic-Con trailer. Those screens look really small when squeezed into our site’s boxes, so full-screen that shiz so you can actually see what’s going on. If you’ve followed updates on the game, you won’t see anything mind-blowing in this video, but it’s a nice reminder that Chibiterasu is super cute.

And in case you haven’t heard about it yet, the other big Okami news of the day is that Amaterasu will be a playable fighter in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (PS3, Xbox 360):
