what is happening

All right, maybe I’ll check out one of these games. Did you realize Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity launched yesterday? Technically, that’s why the Pikachu 3DS XL was released as well, but that special edition hardware (along with Luigi’s Mansion) completely overshadowed the game.

Wii U Deluxe/Nintendo 3DS XL stand

I forgot where I saw this a while back, but if you need something to hold your Nintendo 3DS XL (since these models don’t come with a dock like the standard 3DSes), the Wii U GamePad stand that comes with the Deluxe set works perfect as a stand.

Just thought I’d drop this protip for those of you picking up the Pikachu 3DS XL tomorrow! And share a photo of my Cat XL.

I want this kid’s lunch…
And the cute mini-tray/holder! I’d need a couple more wings, though, so it’d have to be a Pikachu Lunch XL.
I found this while looking for photos of the Pikachu 3DS XL that will release in the U.S. next Sunday. Azu__azu shot the photo of his son at a restaurant next door to a Pokémon Center in Japan. I’m pretty much jelly over everything going on in this photo — this kid living the life.

Pikachu 3DS XL comes to U.S. on March 24
After white smoke billowed out of the official Pokémon Twitter account’s chimney yesterday, we knew this announcement was imminent.
Priced at $199.99 and packed with a 4GB SD card, this Pikachu Edition handheld will release alongside Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity — don’t forget that when you buy a 3DS XL and this game (or Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon), you can get a free download code for one of five first-party titles when you register both.
[Update: Target will have the system on sale for $160!]

Hold up, the Pikachu 3DS XL is in this U.S. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity commercial

A hint that the limited edition system will make an appearance in the States, or Nintendo of America trolling dudes?

Six new figures in the Pikachu Ippai (A Lot of Pikachus) Collection, shown off at the Wonder Festival. That sleepy Pikachu is the best, except for the yelling Pikachu and all the other ones.

Keeping with its tradition of releasing bright yellow Pikachu-themed handhelds, Nintendo will put out special edition 3DS XLs featuring the Pokemon mascot this year.

Part of that tradition also involves not making it easy for those in the West to buy these portables — you’ll only be able to preorder one through Japan’s Pokemon Center stores for ¥18,900 ($238). :o(

Pikachu Pouch! It’s a Pikachu and it’s a pouch, and you totally want to put your DS or 3DS in it. Play-Asia will ship these little guys out starting June 23 for $21.99 each.
Maybe you can arrange it just right so that it looks like a little Pikachu poking his head out of your backpack … but, like, in such a way that it doesn’t just roll out on the ground. The thing looks padded, but I wouldn’t want to test it in that way.

Pokemon “Game Dot” goods, newly available at Japanese Pokemon Centers. The Pikachu Parka is a) great and b) a collaboration between Pokemon Center and Famitsu. Also involving Famitsu:

Pikachu is riding a tiny Pokeball train, and that is what’s up. This item is being given away on Famitsu now.

This is just an edge of a larger piece. I wonder what the rest of the artwork will look like?

It’s not as cute as the Slime Stand, and you can only dock DSis and DSi XLs with it (maybe there’s a way you can jerry-rig a 3DS to work with this?), but this Pikachu base is very cheap at Amazon today, available for only $14.99.

So, if you’re a fan of Pikachu, or have the urge to clutter your desk with giant plastic things, here you go!
