Pokemon X/Y 2DS bundles for the US ⊟
Good news: they’re $149!
Bad news: the red 2DS/Pokemon X bundle is a Target exclusive, and the blue 2DS/Pokemon Y bundle is a Toys R Us exclusive.
Both will be in stores December 6. If you’re shopping for a kid who wants to play Pokemon, this is the cheapest way to do it that doesn’t involve pretending you don’t understand the difference between a 3DS and a Game Boy.
Love this Pikachu bento box ⊟
It might be hard to avoid the Pokeball bento if you’re planning to buy a Poke-themed bento container (easier now since J-List is out of stock), but this three-tiered Pikachu set makes a pretty strong argument. It’s just so sweet, and a bit more practical.
Fun fact: I ordered a bunch of bento stuff earlier in the year, thinking I’d take it on as a hobby and produce beautiful, compact lunches for my wife’s workday. Then the reality of having baby twins happened and postponed that plan for a while…
Kari Fry’s Field Guide to Kanto ⊟
Wow! Fangamer just debuted this beautiful paperback/hardcover book by Kari Fry, with detailed illustrations of all 151 original Pokemon, with detailed information. It’s like an Audubon guide to notional creatures, and I love it.
It’s also part of Fangamer’s “Sleep In Sale" just like everything else, offering free shipping on everything and bonuses with $50 and $100 orders.
Pokemon: The Holiday Sweater ⊟
Punk Guy Jacques spotted ⊟
Just riding the train, oblivious to the fact that he is a character from Pokémon. Credit to Nico and his friend for this serendipitous photo.

So much Pokemon music on iTunes ⊟
The Pokemon X & Pokemon Y Super Music Collection is the first official Pokemon soundtrack release on US iTunes. It’s also:
TWO HUNDRED TWELVE TRACKS for ten damn dollars.
That includes all the music from X and Y, of course, along with battle music from the Pokemon Origins anime and five tracks from Red and Blue!
I should note, this has all the PR Video music tracks – you know, in case you’re putting your real life PR Video together (You should do that and send it to us). The Pokemon Company plans to release soundtracks for the other main Pokemon games next year.
Not even worried about losing Pokemon battles ⊟
Dude is all smiles, like, “So what if you creamed my Flabébé. Can’t nobody take my pride. Can’t nobody hold me doooownnnnn. Eff yo diabetes.”
Hikers are the best NPCs in XY. S/o to XylophonePenguin for the pic.
What you can do with a hacked 3DS ⊟
You might have heard about someone uncovering Pokémon XY's hidden legendaries lately, mostly finds from homebrew developer (Aperture Science, Minecraft DS) and 3DS hacker Smealum. He’s done some fun stuff with the custom — and unreleased — firmware he cooked up for his 3DS, too.
While 3DS flashcard makers focus on updates like multi-game support and firmware spoofing to make piracy more convenient (their region-locking circumvention is impressive, though), Smealum has hacked useful non-piracy stuff into his handheld, like the ability to take 3D screenshots from anywhere, including on the system menu and inside any game.
Now that we know it’s possible, I’m extra annoyed that every 3DS game doesn’t have this in-game screenshot ability (the PS Vita has this, by the way). It worked fantastic in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, so why isn’t it in Ace Attorney: Destinies? Why are the only user screenshots in Pokémon XY available from photo spots?
We shouldn’t need to shell out $250+ to get unauthorized capture boards installed just so we can take in-game screenshots of our Pokémon and share them with our friends online.
Pokemon Christmas Goods ⊟
Available at Pokemon Centers in Japan this year. There’s even more of this stuff, that you can see at Inside-Games.
How are you going to celebrate the holiday season? Are you and your family going to gather around the campfire and recall the traditional story of how Santa Claus caught eight Stantler, checks his special Pokedex (twice) to find out which of the region’s children have been naughty or nice, and then distributes toys to all the good trainers?
Or are you going to listen to Pokemon Christmas Bash on a loop?
Pokemon Opposite Word cards ⊟
Want to teach your kids about opposites, Japanese language and Pokemon simultaneously? J-List has this cool set of cards featuring matched sets of opposites, in simple Japanese hiragana (examples above: front/back, male/female).
I mean, if you think about how many things you’d learn at once from this card game, $14 is pretty cost effective. It’s like if your math textbook was full of examples that also happened to be common auto repair procedures.
Hey, you, be a detective with Pikachu ⊟
Remember those GIFs of a new mystery Pokémon 3DS game and evil Pikachu? We now know that project is a detective game in which the electric rodent is your partner. More details from NHK’s Japanese tv program The Professionals, posted by Serebii:
"A rare Pikachu is said to be the enemy within this game, but they can’t see people liking it. The game is to feature a special Blue Pikachu, which talks. The Pikachu is being controlled via motion capture and facial recognition.
All this information is from early development, so it is probable that it will change should the game come out.”
The game is said to have a development cycle of two years, and is expected to release in… 2015.
