Pokemon Conquest trailer from E3. So I basically had no idea why on earth you’d mix Pokemon and Nobunaga’s Ambition, until producer Hisashi Koinuma explained it to me. It was so simple that I felt stupid for not thinking of it in the first place, but I also sort of felt like I understood the secrets of the universe.

“As Tecmo Koei has created a lot of simulation titles, we wanted to introduce the genre of simulation games to children. It’s not so much that we want them to start playing Nobunaga’s Ambition as an entry point, but just as an entry point to the genre of simulation games.”

And now Pokemon Conquest makes sense! Enjoy your new wisdom!

I love this Pokemon Conquest shot of Japanese warlord Takeda Shingen LOLing it up with Rhyperior. These dudes are like brothers from another rotund mother.
This is kind of like a retroactive version of that Jeremy Lin post we put up yesterday, in which the NBA star repped my boy Blastoise. Except here we have Nintendo assigning Pokemon to dead historical figures.
Nintendo also put out a Pokemon Conquest trailer and a story clip, but this image is where the gold is.

Pokemon and Nobunaga to conquer North America on June 18

Nintendo and Tecmo Koei’s crossover strategy RPG, Pokémon + Nobunaga’s Ambition, will  release for DS this June 18 under the new title Pokemon’s Conquest — blame it on most Americans having no idea who Nobunaga is, why the Sengoku period warlord was so ambitious, or that he has a long-running strategy game series.

For those unfamiliar with the game’s concept:
