Mega Sceptile, Swampert and Diancie ⊟
I haven’t kept up with Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby news, but I’m told outlets like CoroCoro (from which these scans were taken from) are trickling out info. I expect we’ll learn a lot more this week!
So here’s what’s in the scans above, according to Serebii:
"This reveals Mega Sceptile, Swampert and Diancie. Mega Sceptile is Grass/Dragon-type while the others maintain their type. Mega Diancie’s ability is currently listed as ??? while Mega Sceptile has Lightning Rod and Mega Swampert has the ability Swift Swim.
Groudon & Kyogre’s new ‘Mega Evolutions’ are known as Primal/Prehistoric/Primeval Groudon & Primal/Prehistoric/Primeval Kyogre and are said to be a regression called Ancient Devolution. Steven Stone returns and also appears to have a Mega Charizard X and is after the secret for Mega Evolution.”
Not sure if I’m feeling the male protagonist’s design, but the female trainer’s outfit is dope, even if she is wearing a reverse fanny pack.
Concept art for Pokémon Center Paris ⊟
I haven’t seen photos of this pop-up shop, so I’ve no idea if it’s as beautiful as it looks in these sketches, but the temporary store opens tomorrow. It will remain open until June 21st, featuring a Pokémon art exhibit, Pikachu drawing lessons, downloads for the Poké Ball-patterned Vivillon, and guest appearances from the series’ yellow mascot.
Pokemon Delta Emerald could be a thing ⊟
We’re basing this thing possibility on Nintendo and Game Freak registering a trademark for Pokemon Delta Emerald in Japan. There was also a domain registration for Pokemon Delta Emerald at the same times as Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were registered.
Don’t take this as a guarantee that the game is coming out, despite these screenshots from a prototype spotted on presidential letterhead no less (posted by Tea Time Bro a couple of weeks ago). Serebii notes:
"This trademark registration is not likely to be indicative of a game release, but rather covering bases in a similar manner to the registration of Pokémon Water Blue back in 2004 and numerous other Pokémon names over the past 10 years including Pokémon Grey."
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are both now available to preorder on Amazon.
Nendoroid Pokemon Trainer Red available for pre-order ⊟
J-List just posted pre-orders for the ostensibly Pokemon Center-exclusive Pokemon Trainer Nendoroid! I did a quick look around at other shops and didn’t see it yet.
So… you can get one, even though I thought nobody outside of Japan would be able to. That’s cool. There is a small issue, however, and that is the issue of a hundred fifteen dollars. I mean, the figure does come with little starter Pokemon and some cool accessories… but that’s a bit of a premium over the Japanese price. I’m assuming the stock is somewhat hard to come by.
TinyCast 032 - The Pokemons of Our Love
Tiny Cartridge • TinyCast
TinyCast 32! This week’s topics: Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, and Tomodachi Life, a game with no Greek letter attached as far as we know.
More shots of the Trainer Red nendoroid ⊟
I’m not really into owning video game figures, and I’m not even that serious about ‘mons, but I’m seriously considering picking up this nendoroid when Good Smile releases it to Japan this September (priced at ¥4,500/$44).
Real talk, I’d be more excited if this showed up on my doorstep than I would be if someone sent me Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire.
And here’s yet another Pokémon 3DS game ⊟
Just announced in CoroCoro magazine, The Band of Thieves & 1000 Pokémon will release to Japan’s eShop for free on June 5th. It’s a tie-in for Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction, which hits theaters there in July.
Serebii notes that the game “uses StreetPass to collect Pokémon to battle thieves. These thieves are based upon the characters Riot and Marilyn from the upcoming movie.” It will be available for a limited time.
Buy a Pancham cushion or two and squeeze’em ⊟
NCSX is offering this cute 34cm cushion of Pancham’s head and paw, reminding me that Pancham really is one of the cuter new Pokemon. X and Y isn’t all trash bags and vengeful sword demons.
Pokémon Art Academy coming to U.S., Europe ⊟
The Art Academy and Pokémon mash-up offering “40 unique lessons to learn how to paint, sketch and draw beloved Pokémon characters” will release to stores and the eShop in the U.S. this fall. It will release to Europe on July 4 and to Japan on June 19 (boxarts for both above, via @lite_agent).
Along with those lessons, the 3DS app will allow you to post art directly onto Miiverse. You can also share your pieces via SpotPass and local wireless. After completing the classes and “graduating” the Art Academy, you can take on a special set of lessons that include Mega Evolution Pokémon.
Groudon and Kyogre footage in Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire ⊟
Here’s the first look at the 3DS remakes of Ruby/Sapphire in motion, featuring Groudon and Kyogre, the two cover Pokemon whose names I for sure definitely didn’t have to look up.
This is where we’re at in 2014: the Pokemon Company officially sent out a YouTube clip of this footage right after it was shown on the Japanese Pokémon Get☆TV program. This is progress.
Pokemon Trainer Red as a Nendoroid ⊟
I like how he has three different poses pictured, all of which involve holding a hand out. He’ll come with a few accessories (Pokedex, Poke Ball, and Master Ball), as well as three mons (Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle).
Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire boxarts ⊟
Are those Greek Alpha/Omega symbols hidden on Groudon and Kyogre arms? And why are Europe and Japan getting colored boxes, while we’re stuck with plain white cases? This morning’s announcement/video, if you missed it!
