Here’s Pokemon’s Mega Audino ⊟
A new Mega Evolution for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Mega Audino gets the Healer ability in Mega form no matter what it has in its regular form. Its “jacket” thing also evolves into sort of a nightgown situation.
Hey, guys, did you hear? Mega Slowbro ⊟
I neglected to mention Mega Slowbro’s existence this morning, and now Patricia Hernandez and every other Poké person has put up much better posts than I can hope to make. So, let’s just get it over with. Here’s Mega Slowbro. The creature popped up on the official Korean Pokémon website (along with Mega Audino) this morning. Its special ability is “Shell Armor.”
Serebii offers these details:
"It has boosted Defense and Special Attack. Energy was focused in the Shellder biting Slowbro’s tail, and the result was that the hardness of the shell increased and it became an immensely hard suit of armor that can be damaged by no one. When the battle begins Mega Slowbro uses its tail to stand up straight and it propels itself like a spring."
Mega Slowbro is super cute and super pitiful, and this Mega evolution solidifies his status as Pokémon’s Ralph Wiggum. Look at the poor fool. It can barely move in that thing. Credit to Ferrari94 for the GIF.
More Megas, cosplay Pikachu in new Alpha/Omega trailer ⊟
We knew about Mega Salamence, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Altaria a couple days ago already thanks to news published in Japan, but you can see them in action, along with dress-up Pikachu, in this clip.
The Pokémon Company has also announced that players will get a Shiny Beldum holding a Metagrossite Mega Stone when the games launch on November 21 — the creature will evolve into Shiny Metang and then into Shiny Metagross. Using the Stone, you can then evolve it to Shiny Mega Metagross.
US Pokémon Center open ⊟
If you want to buy a plush Scraggy hat, a Charizard tumbler, or your very own huggable Mega Mewtwo, you can do so now at the online Pokémon Center store for the US.
To celebrate the grand opening, the store has a selection of adorable “Special Delivery” Pikachu items featuring the mascot in post office gear. I… need one of those plushes? I’m as surprised as anyone.
As another part of the celebration, US Pokémon X and Y players can get a Poké Ball-patterned Vivillon online through August 12.
No Drama with my Pikachu shirt, please ⊟
These awesome tees are all from Alisa Ueno’s FIG&VIPER brand and will be sold at Pokémon Centers in Japan starting this September for around ¥5800 to ¥6800 ($56 to $66) each.
And if anyone gives you guff for wearing one of these and exposing your midriff, you can point to Pikachu to remind them, “No drama, please!!”
Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire and Alpha/Omega compared ⊟
I love seeing how Game Freak updates its 2D worlds into 3D scenes for its remakes, adding so much more detail and flair without losing the design of the original. Props to @RogersBase for the comparison shots!
"The Poké Life", 1996 ⊟
Is there anything more handheld gaming than sitting in the back of a car, playing Pokémon during a road trip, leaving a backpack open by your feet and filled with distractions for the long drive, and bringing a pillow to nap on once you’ve exhausted your entertainment options?
These nostalgic illustrations come from Matt Rockefeller’s upcoming Pokémon zine, which will be featured at Light Grey Art Lab’s STACKS show in Minneapolis (opening August 1st). He will post full versions of the pieces shown here on his Tumblr next month.
Get out of my dreams, get into my Fennecar ⊟
Toyopet vehicles shown by Toyota at the Tokyo Toy Show. Really cute, though I don’t know how effective Pikachu’s lil’ snout is as a bumper.
Have some cosplaying Pikachus ⊟
What is happening in this Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire artwork? How did we get to a point where Pikachu is dressed as a demure high society lady and a luchador?
This new trailer… doesn’t explain it at all, but does show footage of a trainer petting all these cosplaying Chus in Pokemon-Amie. Plus there’s stuff about the Elite Four, gym leaders, Mega Metagross, Secret Bases, etc., all less important than a Pikachu with big fake eyebrows.
Super-Secret Bases return for Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire ⊟
When the latest Pokemon remake releases this November 21, you’ll be able to create and decorate a Secret Base, share it with others using QR codes, and set rules for what kind of battles other trainers can have there, making it like your own gym.
"When you visit another player’s Secret Base, that base’s members will be hanging out there. You can talk to them or even battle them! If you find base owners that you like, you can scout them as one of your Secret Pals and bring them back to your own Secret Base. Once you’ve become Secret Pals with someone, you can continue to have Pokémon battles against them, and also have your Pal use “special skills” to support you on your adventure.
Another fun aspect of Super-Secret Bases is a capture-the-flag activity. Examine the flag beside the Secret PC in another player’s Secret Base to obtain it! You can take one flag per day from each base visited. Visit lots of Secret Bases and collect lots of flags to improve your team’s rank and get rewards, including increasing the skills of your Secret Pals. Flag colors will change based on a team’s rank, so you can tell another team’s rank at a glance—and others can tell yours!”
Attack on Titan x Pokemon x nope nope peace out ⊟
These frightening mash-ups come from Beth Emery/Zsparky, who has a gallery you can check out at DeviantArt. That Cubone and Colossal Titan mix is rad, but that Smiling Bulbasaur and its teeth are terrifying.
Along with making comics that break my heart, Tiffany works on Steven Universe, which is amazing and coming back soon and I wish there was a non-shady link to the full “Tiger Millionaire” episode I could share with you. You can follow Tiffany’s Tumblr here.
