Super-Secret Bases return for Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire ⊟
When the latest Pokemon remake releases this November 21, you’ll be able to create and decorate a Secret Base, share it with others using QR codes, and set rules for what kind of battles other trainers can have there, making it like your own gym.
"When you visit another player’s Secret Base, that base’s members will be hanging out there. You can talk to them or even battle them! If you find base owners that you like, you can scout them as one of your Secret Pals and bring them back to your own Secret Base. Once you’ve become Secret Pals with someone, you can continue to have Pokémon battles against them, and also have your Pal use “special skills” to support you on your adventure.
Another fun aspect of Super-Secret Bases is a capture-the-flag activity. Examine the flag beside the Secret PC in another player’s Secret Base to obtain it! You can take one flag per day from each base visited. Visit lots of Secret Bases and collect lots of flags to improve your team’s rank and get rewards, including increasing the skills of your Secret Pals. Flag colors will change based on a team’s rank, so you can tell another team’s rank at a glance—and others can tell yours!”
Attack on Titan x Pokemon x nope nope peace out ⊟
These frightening mash-ups come from Beth Emery/Zsparky, who has a gallery you can check out at DeviantArt. That Cubone and Colossal Titan mix is rad, but that Smiling Bulbasaur and its teeth are terrifying.
Along with making comics that break my heart, Tiffany works on Steven Universe, which is amazing and coming back soon and I wish there was a non-shady link to the full “Tiger Millionaire” episode I could share with you. You can follow Tiffany’s Tumblr here.
Save $100 on limited edition Gold/Xerneas 3DS XL ⊟
This beautiful import system, originally sold exclusively through Japan’s Pokemon Center locations, is available for just $199.99 at Play-Asia right now — a steep discount from its typical $299.99 tag. That’s not too much more than what you would pay for an XL you’d buy locally!
It’s available with both Pokemon X and Y bundles at that price for a limited time. S/O to NintendoTweet for spotting. If you’d rather import a system that can play U.S. games, don’t forget that Play-Asia is also selling this Mario White 3DS XL right now.
ゥ$’M, Missingno., and …… ⊟
These tributes to buggy (as opposed to Bug-type) Pokemon are from Glitch PokéZine, which still needs your donations before it can go to print and jump onto BigCartel’s with a reduced price.
The three pieces above come from Natali Martinez, Jimmy Giegerich, and Jake Lawrence. Glitch PokéZine will feature 68 pieces from 68 artists, including other Tiny friends like Ashley Davis and Daniel Bressette.
Meet Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire's new Mega Pokemon ⊟
Let’s learn about the new Mega Evolution versions of the Ruby/Sapphire starters, from the Pokemon Company:
- Mega Sceptile gains the Dragon type through Mega Evolution, making its Dragon-type moves more powerful. It also gains the Lightning Rod Ability, which absorbs the damage from Electric-type moves to raise its own Special Attack.
- Through Mega Evolution, Mega Swampert gains an improved Attack stat which makes it even more formidable when using the Fighting-type move Hammer Arm. Additionally, Mega Swampert gains the Swift Swim Ability, which doubles its Speed when the weather is rainy.
- Mega Blaziken, first discovered in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, gains some new tools through Mega Evolution, in addition to its increased Attack. It has the Speed Boost Ability, making it faster with each passing turn, making the incredibly powerful Flying-type move Brave Bird, extremely rare for a non-Flying-type Pokémon like Blaziken to have, even fiercer in Pokémon battles.
Mega Diancie also makes an appearance! In addition, players will now meet Mega Steven – oh wait, no, just Steven. He’s a guy who helps you learn about Mega Evolution.
Mega Sableye and his giant rupee ⊟
Look at this Ghost/Dark-type cutie!:
"Mega Sableye has concentrated all of the energy from Mega Evolution into the jewel which adorns its chest. Once Sableye has Mega-Evolved, this jewel will swell and become detached from its body.
Mega Sableye uses the jewel as a powerful defensive tool in battle. From behind the shelter of the jewel, it can readily exploit the opponent’s weaknesses and take advantage of any openings. It is said that the jewel hardens into such strength that no attack can even make a scratch!”
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire releasing November 21 ⊟
We didn’t see much stuff announced for the 3DS during Nintendo’s E3 Digital Event today, but we did get an exact release date for the next Pokemons in North America and Japan (Europe gets it on November 28).
Mega Sceptile, Swampert and Diancie ⊟
I haven’t kept up with Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby news, but I’m told outlets like CoroCoro (from which these scans were taken from) are trickling out info. I expect we’ll learn a lot more this week!
So here’s what’s in the scans above, according to Serebii:
"This reveals Mega Sceptile, Swampert and Diancie. Mega Sceptile is Grass/Dragon-type while the others maintain their type. Mega Diancie’s ability is currently listed as ??? while Mega Sceptile has Lightning Rod and Mega Swampert has the ability Swift Swim.
Groudon & Kyogre’s new ‘Mega Evolutions’ are known as Primal/Prehistoric/Primeval Groudon & Primal/Prehistoric/Primeval Kyogre and are said to be a regression called Ancient Devolution. Steven Stone returns and also appears to have a Mega Charizard X and is after the secret for Mega Evolution.”
Not sure if I’m feeling the male protagonist’s design, but the female trainer’s outfit is dope, even if she is wearing a reverse fanny pack.
Concept art for Pokémon Center Paris ⊟
I haven’t seen photos of this pop-up shop, so I’ve no idea if it’s as beautiful as it looks in these sketches, but the temporary store opens tomorrow. It will remain open until June 21st, featuring a Pokémon art exhibit, Pikachu drawing lessons, downloads for the Poké Ball-patterned Vivillon, and guest appearances from the series’ yellow mascot.
Pokemon Delta Emerald could be a thing ⊟
We’re basing this thing possibility on Nintendo and Game Freak registering a trademark for Pokemon Delta Emerald in Japan. There was also a domain registration for Pokemon Delta Emerald at the same times as Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were registered.
Don’t take this as a guarantee that the game is coming out, despite these screenshots from a prototype spotted on presidential letterhead no less (posted by Tea Time Bro a couple of weeks ago). Serebii notes:
"This trademark registration is not likely to be indicative of a game release, but rather covering bases in a similar manner to the registration of Pokémon Water Blue back in 2004 and numerous other Pokémon names over the past 10 years including Pokémon Grey."
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are both now available to preorder on Amazon.
Nendoroid Pokemon Trainer Red available for pre-order ⊟
J-List just posted pre-orders for the ostensibly Pokemon Center-exclusive Pokemon Trainer Nendoroid! I did a quick look around at other shops and didn’t see it yet.
So… you can get one, even though I thought nobody outside of Japan would be able to. That’s cool. There is a small issue, however, and that is the issue of a hundred fifteen dollars. I mean, the figure does come with little starter Pokemon and some cool accessories… but that’s a bit of a premium over the Japanese price. I’m assuming the stock is somewhat hard to come by.
