The artist says he wanted to explore his “burgeoning desire to examine celebrities’ appearances in videogames”:

“[This] was my way of having a decent first taste of messing with the imagery of [Moonwalker], specifically of Jackson’s death animation. If you look closely, it appears the game’s designers made Michael assume the crotch-grab position whenever he dies; awesome.

I recolored Jackson’s outfit and hair to mimic Jeff Koons’ sculpture of Michael. … The background of outer space is from Space Invaders ‘95: Attack of the Lunar Loonies and the earth and moon are from Capcom’s quintessential beat’em up Aliens vs. Predator.”

Duke Togo (Golgo 13) figure.

Marvelous will give away this limited edition 30 cm-tall figure to 13 randomly picked gamers who fill out and send in the postcard surveys accompanying Golgo 13: File G-13 o Oe’s Japanese release for the DS in June.

His assassin’s kit includes a Smith & Wesson .38 revolver and an Armalite M16A3, modified to Golgo 13’s specifications, which brings us to this quote:

G13: I need to be able to hit a target through three inches of glass with no change in trajectory. And don’t let the increased gunpowder affect its accuracy.

Gunsmith: What the hell is your target?

G13: A meat-filled… football

It’s a shame the actual game doesn’t look too exciting, judging by its trailer — too much talking, not enough shooting at meat-filled footballs (or bringing damsels back to your hotel room for a tender night with the Duke).

Shiren the Wanderer New Year postcards.

Thanking its masochistic fans, Chunsoft is sending out 100 of these greeting cards featuring Shiren’s talking weasel companion Koppa. The cards will be signed by Chunsoft founder Koichi Nakamura, who also directed several Dragon Quest titles while at Enix.

Unfortunately, to receive one of these postcards, you have to be based in Japan, and you’ll also need to embed a Shiren the Wanderer DS 2 banner on your blog/site.

Speaking of StW DS 2, Siliconera put up an excellent preview for the roguelike. LordGek, a familiar name to anyone who follows the Shiren series, also has impressions posted at NeoGAF.

Also in related news, it looks like Sega Europe has no plans to localize StW DS 2. Not surprising, but still sad.
