Kid Icarus: Uprising trailer featuring Dark Pit, air/land combat, and… a space dragon? That came out of nowhere.

As action-packed as this looks, I’m still not convinced that I need to have the game and its bundled stand in my life. The thing is, I really want to play the prettied up 3D Classics: Kid Icarus, and Nintendo of America is giving out download codes for that to people who preorder Uprising at select retailers (specific stores not identified yet).

It’s a devious way to get people to preorder Uprising! Meanwhile, people in Japan and Europe receive 3D Classics: Kid Icarus for free just for buying and registering two select 3DS games. No such luck for us!

Mario Kart 7 pouch for your 3DS, available as an in-store preorder bonus through GAME/Gamestation in Europe.

I’ve spent the past couple days getting through all of the game’s cups in the 50cc and 100cc modes, and while I’m finding a few annoyances and frustrations (argh, Melody Motorway!), I can’t put this thing down…

Boxart and preorder case for Resident Evil: Revelations, which has just been announced for a February 7, 2012 release date for the U.S. (in time for Valentine’s Day!)

“Set between the events of RE4 and RE5, the all new episodic narrative sees fan favorite characters Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield paired with new BSAA members Parker Luciani and Jessica Sherawat on their search to discover the truth about the Veltro terrorist organization and the T-Abyss virus outbreak.

Players will need to make use of the unique Nintendo 3DS touch screen to solve puzzles and switch between weapons as they try to survive the horror that awaits them around every corner. Environments will need to be scanned with the Genesis Scanner to reveal hidden items and identify enemies.”

The image on the case changes in the sunlight apparently, which I guess is kind of cool? Too bad you can only get it by reserving the 3DS title at GameStop.

Preorder a Nintendo 3DS for $169.99 now →

The Nintendo 3DS price cut won’t take effect until August 12, but you can put in a preorder now for the cheaper $169 system at Amazon — just hit this link and choose whether you’d like a Cosmo Black or Aqua Blue portable.

Of course, you could also pay $225 to receive your handheld sooner and take advantage of the “Nintendo 3DS Ambassador” program for early adopters, picking up 10 free NES games (e.g. Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda) and 10 free GBA titles (e.g. Yoshi’s Island: SMA 3, WarioWare) via the 3DS Virtual Console.

Pikachu papercraft, available as an early purchase bonus with the 3DS Super Pokemon Rumble. If you go to one of the participating Japanese retailers on this list, you’ll get that adorably spheroid Pikachu kit, along with some AR markers for new Pokemon in Pokedex 3D, and some codes for new Pokemon in Rumble.

If you do happen to be in Japan and purchase the game, it would be really nice if the papercraft template happened to fall onto your scanner. Just saying.

Amazon's $10 preorder credit for Pokemon Black and White is in the Top Percentage →

Amazon just upped the store credit it’s giving to customers who preorder Pokemon Black or White from $5 to $10. Now, if you put in a reservation for either version of the upcoming game (system bundles not included), you’ll receive $10 to buy other junk at the online shop — and if you get both versions, you’ll pick up a $20 credit.

While we’re talking about monsters of the pocket variety, today is the last day you’ll be able to buy the “Top Percentage” shirt you see above from the fine folks at FYPBlog ($24 U.S., $30 international, shipping included).

Since I haven’t played a Pokemon since Red/Blue, I had no idea what the joke on this shirt is referring to. Having researched the meme and seen the Facebook page, though, I am now thorougly amused by all this.

Preorder Pokémon B/W DSi bundles →

I know most of you are already digging deep in your pockets to pay for a 3DS and its pricey launch games, but if for some reason you want to buy a limited edition DSi with Pokémon Black and White three weeks before the new portable hits, Amazon is taking preorders for the bundle.

The bundles include a Black or White Nintendo DSi etched with a Reshiram or Zekrom design, a matching carrying case, and a copy of the game — all for $179.99!

Or you can just get forget the bundle and get Pokemon Black or White for only $34.99, and score a $5 promotional credit from Amazon. Both the games and bundles will hit stores on March 6.

Blazblue: Continuum Shift 2 artwork. Arc System Works is giving these away in some form (posters? telephone cards?) with early purchases of the 3DS/PSP fighter from various Japanese retailers, ensuring that the boxart won’t be the most humiliating piece of artwork packaged with the game.

I love that there are 9 “sexy” pictures of female characters, and one of Ragna stuffing a cheeseburger into his mouth.

Kinda boring Monster Tale preorder offer at GameStop →

So, here’s the bad news. If you preorder DreamRift/Majesco’s Monster Tale at GameStop, you get an exclusive … code for a new color scheme for Ellie and 5% off at in-game shops. Five whole percent! The good news is that such a code exists, and will be available to all five minutes after the game is released.

In case you’ve missed this game, it’s a new DS platformer from part of the Henry Hatsworth team, in which the top screen is a platformer about a little girl saving a world of monsters from evil kids, and the bottom screen is home to her pet monster, Chomp, who you can feed and grow into several different forms. I played it at E3 and found it more interesting than the “virtual pet” bit may make it sound.

And here’s the recent trailer:

Nintendo 3DS system, games preorders

Starting today, GameStop is accepting preorders for the Nintendo 3DS — I believe most stores require a $50 deposit, though some report that several shops are taking $25. The retailer should contact you once final pricing and colors for the system in North America are announced, likely following the January 19th press event.

I personally prefer to buy my games/consoles elsewhere, so I’ll wait for other shops to begin taking reservations, like Best Buy, Amazon, or Toys R’ Us.

Also, Amazon is taking preorders for several Nintendo 3DS titles, mostly Konami games, anticipating prices of $34.99 to $39.99 (not the final prices, of course):

$25 credit with new Orange, Green DSis →

Though they’re not as nice as slick as the Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary DSi XL (IMO), Amazon has sweetened the deal for the limited edition Orange and Green DSis by throwing in a $25 game credit if you buy the bundles!

So, even if you don’t like the pack-in game, Mario Party DS, you’ll have enough credit to purchase something extra to enjoy with your new handheld — might we suggest Retro Game Challenge?
