Many of you joined me in expressing interest in possessing your very own Revoltech figure of Professor Layton with various Layton-life accessories. Now the dream of having a tiny, polite but immobile academic on your desk can be an expensive reality!
NCSX opened pre-orders for the figure today at a price of $32.90 — which is more than either Professor Layton game costs on Amazon right now. Now is the true test of your dedication to tiny puzzle enthusiast simulacra! The figure ships in March and is shit hot.

I thought this figure was shit hot as an unpainted prototype, and the finished product does not hurt that evaluation in the least. It comes with both “thinking” and “aha” faces, as well as a table, a chair, a teacup, several different hands, and a notebook that opens and closes. Few figures are so accurate in their exacting recreations of characters, while still being posable.
I haven’t purchased an action figure in around 5-7 years, but I’m ashamed to say I am experiencing feelings of wanting to drop ¥2,400 ($26.25). We’ll see how much stuff I’ve scrounged up to put on eBay by this thing’s March release.

Professor Layton figure (prototype), shown at the Revoltech Expo. This figure of the genteel sleuth, whose price and release date have yet to be announced, is part of Kaiyodo’s Revoltech line, which means two things:
- It’s got awesomely versatile joints for posability.
- It’s totally suitable for setting up freeze-frame scenes of dramatic fights with Revoltech Zangief. Or, for that matter, tea parties!

Kaiyodo Revoltech Zangief, in stock now at Play-Asia. This and a new Ken figure have been released in connection with Street Fighter Online Mouse Generation. The Ken is okay, but I am all about this super-posable, super-exaggerated ‘Gief. Twenty bucks!
I have been totally hoping to see this pop up on Play-Asia since Capcom-Unity posted these awesome pictures. The next figure in the series, coming next month: Guile, or “Gooley”, as the kids in my local arcade referred to him. Also some Street Fighter Online exclusive characters nobody cares about.
