Tiny Cartridge 3DS

Rhythm Heaven GBA translated

I’ve always heard from a few people that the series’ first game had the best Rhythm Tengoku/Heaven experience, which I can believe since the Japan-only GBA release is the only one you can play on a Micro.

So while it’s not a game that you don’t really need to understand the text to play, it’s nice that someone’s translated most of it to English seven years later. You can grab the Rhythm Heaven patch here — presuming you have a legally ripped ROM of the GBA game to apply the patch to.

The text in Rhythm Heaven is completely translated, but the graphics are still in Japanese — the translation team is seeking capable hackers and pixel artists to help them with those remaining updates.

Rhythm Heaven Fever for $13.90
For one more day, Play-Asia is offering a special sale price on the North American version of the Wii rhythm action game. Yes, there were awesome Wii games in 2012 that weren’t fan campaign-backed RPGs!
Kirby Mass Attack is also on sale, at the same price, for the same time period. I keep typing “Kirby Mass Effect,” and then I keep reading it as “Kirby Das EFX.”

Six swanky Mario, Animal Crossing, and Rhythm Heaven handcloths offered as prizes through Japan’s Club Nintendo loyalty program (click for larger images).

The 34x90 cm cloths are hand-dyed using Meiji-era techniques — you can see the process here — so don’t be the thoughtless guy who actually ends up staining/ruining one of these towels. It’s best to use them as intended: hung on your walls for display, never to be touched, even if you happen to spill juice all over your carpet.

Rhythm Heaven music cover by The 8 Bit Dreamer. Munchy Monk 2 is pretty much the best thing!

Here’s the original version:

I understand it would be very difficult to play the horn while eating dumplings on beat.

Rhythm Heaven Fever wallpaper, one of a selection of great desktops at the official site (warning: sound!).
I’m almost certain some of our readers have an interest in Rhythm Heaven-type games, so I thought I’d point you to the review I wrote for Joystiq last week. You should also check out Mike Schramm’s gallery from last night’s Rhythm Heaven Fever/iam8bit launch party!
And while I’m pointing out rhythm game writeups at Joystiq, how about a preview of Rhythm Thief and the Emperor’s Treasure? I was really proud of how that turned out, and I just noticed it has all of three comments. Mannnnnn.

Another English video for Rhythm Heaven Fever, which will be out here before you know it! Provided that the date you expect to know it is sometime after February 13.

Nintendo posted this clip with a cryptic message: “Keep your eyes open for a special something that may come in handy (hint, hint).” There’s a red, capitalized T at the end of the video, but I have no idea what that means.

Rhythm Heaven Fever's wrestling interview minigame, now in English. Instead of Japanese gibberish that sounds like “Tickytickyticky desu ka?”, we get English gibberish that sounds like “Wabbadabbadabba is that true?”

This looks like a clip from the upcoming localized version that will hit on February 13, but I can’t say for sure. If you happen to run into Reggie Fils-Aime or any other Nintendo of America execs, try to confirm by asking them “Wabbadabbadabba is that true? Whoa, you go, big guy!”

(NSFW) Rhythm Heaven Wii’s “Wrestler Interview” minigame, with the wrestler replaced by footage of… a stripper, I guess? Finally, we can see what Rhythm Heaven would look like with more male strippers instead of cartoon people. I was totally wondering! But now that question is definitively answered.

Sugoi desu ne!

Rhythm Heaven Wii’s sweet end credits and song.

Did you know Rhythm Heaven Wii has four minigames from the original GBA release? NintenDaan posted three of the unlockable games — Calligraphy, Tap Dance, and The Clapping Trio — on his Youtube account.

By the time this finally comes out here, I’ll have seen and “played” every minigame by tapping along on my desk.
