**Yep, Funimation licensed the Senran Kagura anime**

Yep, there’s an anime based on the humiliating clothes-destroying 3DS action game Senran Kagura. I had no idea there even was an anime. And I definitely haven’t watched the episode embedded here yet, so don’t blame me when you sit through it and cringe for like 20 minutes.

Senran Kagura: Boys Edition. Today, Marvelous revealed this all-male remake of the all-girls 3DS action game. According to a post on the official blog (summarized by Andriasang), this version was in the works first, but the producers decided breasts were required for sales. The team then kept making the game on their own.

Naturally, this isn’t true at all; it’s an April Fools Day joke. The best indicator is the suggestion that there was ever a thought other than “boobs” during the Senran Kagura development process. Also the April 1 date. That’s a pretty good indicator as well.

Senran Kagura’s Asuka in figure form. Before Code of Princess, Senran Kagura was the embarrassing 3DS action game. I had no idea it sold well enough to support spinoff toys, but here it is, due to ship in June for 4,729 yen ($57). Weird.

It’s sorta tasteful, I guess, at least relative to everything else I’ve ever seen of this game. Which just means I’m only a little ashamed to have seen it.

Senran Kagura’s moe-laden intro movie. Of all the groan-inducing news released over the weekend about this 3DS game, this movie induces the fewest or quietest groans, because it’s at least related to the game.

You know, when this game was first announced, I thought it was an action game that kind of happened to have a lot of boobs in it. Over the last few months, however, publisher Marvelous has made it pretty clear that this is a game primarily about anime boobs, a boob delivery service with some game elements attached, and basically the kind of thing that is a huge embarrassment to people whose co-workers assume they like every random Japanese game.
