Animal Crossing 3DS LL Body Covers

For you: Thanks always and for everything!

I am happy to meet you!

These are both available from Play Asia for $19.90 each. (Type A/Type B) I think the sweetly naive Engrish on the letter-style one captures the optimism of the world of Animal Crossing, the uncomplicated, happy life that we all want to immerse ourselves in.

PREORDER Animal Crossing: New Leaf ($5 OFF, June 9), upcoming games

A new series of Super Mario Bros. “Body Covers” for 3DS, by Keys Factory. See? You don’t need a 3DS XL – not when your regular 3DS accommodates fun accessories like these.

They ship later this month from Play-Asia, for $17.49 each.

Buy: Nintendo 3DS XL Red or Blue,  Nintendo 3DS

Square Enix’s busy but fun Dragon Quest Monsters 3DS protect case (click for a larger image). You can import one for only $21.99 from Asia, which is way cheaper than the limited edition DQM system we posted this morning. That bundle is 20 times more expensive than this accessory. But it’s 20 times more amazing, too.

Hori’s Etrian Odyssey IV accessory set includes a green pouch, a leafy plastic shell, and a pen stylus (click for larger images), releasing alongside the 3DS game in Japan this July 5 for ¥2,780, or $34. Dat exchange rate.

Atlus and Hori are trying out something neat with this set, too — it comes with a QR code, which you can use to download a special quest for Etrian Odyssey IV. Kind of like how our Tiny Cartridge sticker pack also comes with a secret QR code for a nice extra gift, too!

Kung-Fu Panda full replacement case for DS Lite. The official end of the DS Lite’s lifespan does not mark the end of off-brand shells, as evidenced by this completely random item at Dealextreme. If you want to make your DS Lite advertise a 2008 Jack Black cartoon, you can do so for just $9.40.
Over the years, Dealextreme has built up an impressive catalog of unofficial replacement cases, including those made to look like Nintendo World Store exclusives, rare cross-promotions, and random junk. I’d try one myself if I weren’t chicken — and if I didn’t still love the look of my crimson/black DS Lite.

Domo-kun DSi shell hidden behind a Dragon Quest Slime speaker stand. I love this trend of DSi cases that use the camera for a mascot’s eyes (e.g. Gachapin/Mukku).
DS Lite owners need not feel left out, as there’s a Domo shell for you, too. I would suggest buying one of these protective cases instead of spending money on the Domo mini-games currently available on DSiWare.

Buy: Nintendo DSi XL (Burgundy and Bronze), Standard Nintendo DSi (White, Pink, Black and Blue)

Famicom-style plastic shells for your DSi by Convex. This is one of the better system shell designs I’ve seen! You know it’s quality because it’s “Made in Brain”. Also, the protective case promises The Grand Graphic Entertainments.
Here’s what the Convex case looks like on a white DSi (it would likely look much nicer on a Japan-only Red DSi):

The back is really neat and has a Game Center CX/Retro Game Challenge-ish vibe to it:

The protective case is priced at around ¥3,990, or around $44 (ouch!). Convex has a couple other clear DSi shells from its Magnum Opus line spoofing game brands and even camera/printer corporation Canon. It also sells a Famicom cartridge-shaped eraser, which isn’t nearly as cool the Game & Watch eraser.
Import: Convex’s Magnum Opus Famicom DSi clear shell

Cooking Mama: Cook Off DS Lite replacement shell, for huge fans of… the first Cooking Mama Wii game. DealExtreme has expanded its selection of DS shells since I last looked, now encompassing not only knockoffs of limited editions, but also stuff like this that is “original” — relatively speaking.
Of course, they’re still doing the knockoffs.

Like the “deco-den” DS Lite we featured before, the above system shell is topped with (fake) chocolate and icing, except it now has an open spot for the DSi’s external camera. Japanese online shop Rakuten is selling this particular accessory for a crazy ¥4,480 ($48)! It is handmade, though.
For an even daintier look, there are also DSi cases with pink icing, teddy bears, rabbits, hearts, ice cream, and other sweets priced at ¥4,200 ($45):

That’s much cheaper than the $300 I spent to import a DSi when it launched in Japan in November!

In related news, Takara Tomy has a new line of “Slipon” socks and leather pouches for the DSi, available in a variety of colors from $7.90 to $9.90 (plus s/h). They don’t look bad at all:

Hori’s Dragon Quest IX plastic DSi shells, coming with the game’s Japanese release in March, priced at ¥1200 ($13).
The accessory company also plans to put out a DS stand/speaker at the same time for ¥4725 ($51), and it looks like a huge version of Dragon Quest’s Slime mascot!
