We mentioned before that Tommo is putting out five three-game packs and a 15-game mega pack for the Neo Geo X on June 25. I got to hold the packaging — meant to mimic the Neo Geo boxes that seemed like mini-suitcases when we were kids — at E3, and I loved the whole deal. Unfortunately the box’s interior isn’t finalized so I couldnt take shots of that.
The game card in each pack includes a Neo Geo X firmware upgrade promising “game save functionality, improved TV aspect ratio compatibility, improved sound quality,” and user interface enhancements. I asked Tommo’s rep if the upgrade will affect any of the hardware hacking people are enjoying with the system, and he said it shouldn’t, but no guarantees on that!
BUY Neo Geo x Gold, Neo Geo X games, and upcoming games
The Neo Geo X handheld, console, and arcade stick bundle (as shown in this photo taken by Ryuichiro Ban) is now available with a 25 percent discount, making it only slightly more expensive than the $130 that the handheld by itself will go for starting April.
If you need more convincing to pick this up, lose yourself in this GIF extravaganza. Also: the system has been hacked.
BUY Neo Geo x Gold, upcoming games
This starts shipping out today, and since I don’t have the cash to splurge on this throwback handheld x console combo bundle, I’m making GIFs of it instead.
Just gonna stare at these for the next couple hours, sighing every few minutes while listening to Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas”.
BUY Neo Geo x Gold
You know that artwork of Jake the Dog enamored with his Everything Burrito? That’s me with the Neo Geo x Gold, limbs all stretching to hug the console.
BUY Neo Geo x Gold (releases tomorrow!)
The Neo Geo X Gold handheld is an actual thing, and it’s releasing around the world this December 6!
It’s priced at an astonishing $199.99, but the package does promise a lot: 20 preloaded classic games (e.g. Samurai Shodown II, The King of Fighters ‘95), a Neo Geo X Station that acts a charging dock and allows you to play your games on a TV, and a Neo Geo X Joystick.
The portable itself features a 4.3” LCD display and an expandable game card slot. See the full list of games and sign up for the mailing list to buy one here.

Some kind of Neo Geo portable device making the rounds today. Supposedly, this iPhone-styled handheld is licensed by SNK Playmore, but there’s all sorts of weird stuff going on in these photos — like the eratically labeled shoulder buttons, the “Select” button that turns into “Menu” in another shot, and just the general cheap look of it.
Despite those doubts over whether this is a real thing — and the fact you can already download a grip of Neo Geo titles on PSP/PS Vita — its advertised features are nice: 4.3-inch screen, 2GB internal storage with an SD card slot, analog stick, and 20 built-in North American Neo Geo games (e.g. Metal Slug, King of Fighters ‘94). It just needs Neo Geo Pocket/Neo Geo Pocket Color support!

Metal Slug’s Marco, Tarma, and “Black Hound” Tank all crafted as wicked looking custom toys by Jin Saotome — he made the SV-002 out of this cheap Fisher Price thing!

Figurine of Metal Slug 4’s Fio, by Embrace Japan. This 1/8 scale figure comes with a tiny Metal Slug tank and prisoner. I’d rather get a bigger tank and a smaller Fio, but this is still pretty fun!
It’ll ship in Japan next March, and is up for pre-order now at import shop AmiAmi for ¥7,680 ($99).

“Turkey Time” by Brother Brain. With Thanksgiving Day up in this piece, expect reduced posting today as we stuff ourselves with food and take a break from living hermit blogger lives to spend time with our families.
I’m told that if you keep an eye on Joystiq this afternoon, by the way, you might see some 3DS talk…

Star Radish clip (much better than the previous footage I’ve posted!). This shoot’em up, for those not keeping track of fake retro game releases, is included as an 8-bit diversion in witch-molesting import Doki Majo Plus.
If you love “fake” games as much as I do (e.g. Retro Game Challenge, Dark Void Zero), check out my write-up on an entire art exhibit filled with interesting made-up titles.

English intro for Doki Doki Majo Shinpan 2 Duo. Speaking of pervy Japanese DS games (R.I.P. Hachi Koi), someone’s actually working on a fan translation for this underage witch-molesting import. The guy leading the project is looking for assistant translators, so if you want to see this patch finished and don’t mind your name appearing in an FBI list of potential sex offenders, sign up!

Notice the blowing noise at the beginning of this clip? That’s the player puffing into the system mic to raise Kiara’s skirt. I wasn’t sure what bit of skin the player was fondling around the 00:35 mark (An armpit? A knee? Her clavicle?) until I noticed the tanlines from her garters.
As I understand it, the Doki Majo series has players searching for marks on the game’s cast of characters to uncover the witches that have snuck into their school. For some reason, Kiara’s halloween outfit, elven ears, and horns weren’t enough to incriminate her.
You can watch more jiggle-filled videos of Doki Majo Plus’ witches molested in this Youtube playlist.
