<3 game worlds with isometric views ⊟
As someone who grew up adoring games with isometric views like Shadowrun (SNES), X-Com, and various Tactics releases, I love seeing these shots.
The top image is concept art from Stéphane Boutin for Mercenary Kings — the PC/PlayStation 4 game doesn’t play or look like that, but it’s going to be an awesome run’n gun regardless when it releases.
As for the second piece, that’s "Bookkeeper’s Garden" from Chern Fai. While it’s not an actual game, god, I want to play that. I want to manage a magic library and garden, and be that little dude just getting a stack of books and reading them. Actually, I want to play/live in all of these isometric scenes Fai has posted on Tumblr.

DRN-01: Tribute by Stéphane Boutin (click for a larger image). Mega Man tributes have been flooding gaming blogs lately, what with Udon’s recent fanart contest for the Capcom mascot, but this one is especially neat because it’s from the fellow who worked on the backgrounds and graphics for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game.
You can buy this as an 11”X17” print on Etsy for the low, low price of $8 ($6 shipping in the U.S.)
