Asian kids transformed into Street Fighters.
When I was a young Asian scrap like these two, before receiving formal training in the Shotokan fighting style, I used to pull special moves like this all the time.
That’s how I got in trouble in third grade once, when everyone was running to line up in single file after recess, and I dashed toward the group and jumped in with a flying kick, like I was Bruce fucking Lee in Enter the Dragon.
I accidentally kicked a kid, but it was nothing serious. It’s not like he got knocked out, body all hanging in the air as he dropped in slow motion, elephants trumpeting in the background as an announcer was like, “You Win.”
It’s not like dude lost a quarter or nothing over it. I didn’t follow it up by smashing some guy’s car with mad dragon punches, breaking his sedan down to a molecular level. It wasn’t anything serious, nahmean?
Anyway, a teacher saw it all, pulled me aside by the arm, and threatened to call my mom to tell her about it. At the end of the day, she forgot about the ordeal, but I was stressing all afternoon over it.

“Outsourced” by Sachin Teng (click for a larger image). Must be one of those bootleg/hacked Street Fighter II variants that were so popular in the early ’90s.

(We also agreed that Ono seemed huggable — doesn’t he?) Little did I know, that Street Fighter vs. Tokidoki shirt was released during last year’s New York Comic-Con, and has been sitting quietly on Capcom’s online store since then.
Today, Capcom announced that this shirt is its Deal of the Week, discounted 25 percent to $29.99. I’m guessing other people saw Ono sporting the adorable garment, and flooded Capcom with inquiries about how to get their own. If you’re interested in picking one up, the sale is active until Friday!

E. Honda’s stage as graffiti, captured by Chtrees Pizza (click for a larger image). I like to imagine this as a scene from a hacked, bootleg version of Street Fighter II filled with subtle discrepancies like Guile’s missing tattoos, the background flag lighting up before the round ends, and the giant purple tag defacing the bathhouse.

It turns out that they’re not nearly as hard to acquire as I thought they would be. In fact, retailer Thinkgeek has discounted them to just $4 each, down from $13.
As of right now, only the Dhalsim and Chun-Li versions are available, but you didn’t want to be boring and get the Ryu one anyway. Not when you can have YOGA FIRE! in your pocket. You know Dhalsim is a yoga master, by the way, because he says the word “Yoga” all the time. If you do want a different one, however, Strapya has eight variations for $10 each.

Zangief papercraft from Street Fighter EX. I was sure I’d posted this wonderful papercraft before, but I couldn’t find the old post. Regardless, I wouldn’t want to deprive you of the opportunity to save this in your folder of papercraft projects you plan to get to someday.

tags / zangief / street fighter / papercraft / jcWell, that’s one way to play Street Fighter on a DSi. It isn’t the most elegant solution, but Photo Dojo is more about quick and goofy fun than it is creating a super technical or attractive fighting game.
It’s interesting to see what kids with too much time on their hands are doing with the game — I saw one video where a kid imported God of War’s Kratos, and other clips with brawling celebrities like Kanye West and Justin Bieber.
While I’m just chatting about random Photo Dojo junk, you know how we sometimes whine that no one (major developers, at least) really does much to market their DSiWare releases? Like, when was the last time you saw a print ad, let alone a commercial for a DSiWare game?
Well, imagine my surprise when I saw a short commercial for Photo Dojo on Cartoon Network during a commercial break for Adventure Time a couple days ago. It totally blew my mind! Nintendo of America actually put some money into advertising the free (for a limited time) game.

“Rock Star Cammy” shirt on sale at Capcom’s store. If you absolutely have to have the image of Cammy’s posterior on your shirt, this is your best option, especially since Meat Bun’s “Bombshell” shirt is no longer available.
Although if presence of fighting game character booty is the main requirement for your wardrobe, you’ve probably already picked up the “Bombshell” shirt. Also, what is the matter with you?

I keep seeing things that make me think about the Street Fighter series, and about how nice it might be to pick up a copy of Super Street Fighter IV. Coincidentally, I frequent Capcom-Unity, a site run by PR staff of the company that publishes Super Street Fighter IV.

“Fireball” by John Scarratt, available in the artist’s Etsy store. I love this. In fact, I’m a little sad that someone else is going to see it, love it as much as I do, and then actually buy the thing, forcing me to abandon the idle fantasy of putting it on my own wall.

E. Honda’s flying headbutt breaks up a crowd, by K_aimar.
Ken might have had no problems Dragon Punching his own wife, but he seems more hesitant here to face Street Fighter’s resident sumo. Sakura is smart enough to flee the scene and avoid accidentally seeing E. Honda junk.

It’s a shame these are fan mock-ups and not real alternate outfits. I wouldn’t mind playing as Dan dressed up like the Art of Fighting character that inspired his creation.
