Super Metroid poster by Ian Wilding. It’s a little different from the “minimalist” thing that’s happening with a lot of posters/fanart, but it’s still simple, and just really nice to look at. Plus, it serves as a reminder that Super Metroid exists, which is an important public service.
The print is available in a variety of sizes from Wilding’s Society6 shop.

Metroid Super ZeroMission, a hack for Super Metroid (SNES/SFC) that adds Zero Mission-style graphics, an extra Zero Mission-inspired map, and more.
This preview video with its metal mix of Metroid’s music has been out since 2009, but Japanese coder SB just completed and put out the hack recently — download it for free here. You’ll need a copy of the the Japanese Super Metroid ROM to play it, though…
When I first saw this, I thought it was a Super Metroid hack of Zero Mission — which would be awesome for portability’s sake — and not the other way around. Someone with time/hacking abilities should get on that!

Super Metroid’s music, in the style of the Sega Genesis. HG101 rounded up a collection of remade music by Geckoyamori, including the above medley. The change in sound hardware totally lends the familiar Super Metroid music a spookier feel, I think.
I’ve also just realized I need to go replay Super Metroid immediately.

Who can forget the dramatic scene in Super Metroid in which that claw tentacle thing kept grabbing Samus and.. that’s pretty much it. By “dramatic,” of course, I mean “amazingly irritating.”
Here’s a papercraft template for that. I love papercraft, but I love papercraft scenes the best.
