Japanese Super Game Boy commercial. Inside-Games pointed out that Tuesday was the 17th anniversary of the release of the Super Game Boy peripheral. That’s not an especially noteworthy anniversary or something, but it’s neat that we were playing Game Boy games in little windows on another Nintendo system on that day.
More commercials! Here’s a Dutch one with Donkey Kong climbing on Einstein Mario’s head:
Now, meet French Wario:
Too bad the 3DS Virtual Console release of Donkey Kong ‘94 today doesn’t include Super Game Boy support. :(

I am just dying over this. DYING.
Art director Wen 1 COD says this video was “banned from networks for being too ill”, and I believe him!
Anyway, this is a fine opportunity to remind you that our spin-off site DS Dates is holding a “Protect Ya Screen” contest, in which we’re giving away cleverly designed Nintendo 3DS screen protectors. Entering is dead simple!

Yes, this is essentially a Super Game Boy but for the NES. RetroZone’s Bunnyboy packed the cartridge with bits from an original Game Boy and a custom board that translates the GB graphics into NES format, allowing you to play GB games on a TV screen with an NES controller. It even has a link port for plugging in another GB or the GB printer. You can change the colors and borders on the display with the second player controller, too.
But there are several drawbacks to the RetroVision:
Despite all that, it still seems like an amazing product!

Super Game Boy Commander controller for Super Famicom. This may be one of the least necessary controllers I’ve seen, useful mostly for people who weren’t able to adjust to playing Game Boy games with two buttons that didn’t have a speaker vent under them.
Maybe we didn’t need it over here because our SNES controller buttons were already a shade of purple, so it was less jarring of a transition from Game Boy to SNES. Okay, to be serious, when in Super Game Boy mode, the unused SFC buttons are remapped to other functions like slowdown.
It may not be necessary, but it’s kind of awesome. It’s NCSX’s sale item of the week, for $19.90.
