DS/3DS Release Dates & Sales // Tiny Cartridge Stickers For Your Games!

Escapee Go!, a new DSiWare game that released in the U.S. DSiWare shop this week for 200 Points. This trailer makes it look like a combination of Metal Gear and Pac-Man!

Escapee Go! features a story mode in which you play a female amnesiac trying to find out about her past while using psychic powers to avoid her pursuers, and there’s a four-player local multiplayer mode that plays like Pac-Man Vs. You can learn more about the game on its fab mini-site set up by Singaporean developer Gevo Entertainment — more DSiWare devs should make these.

And if you also have a spare 500 Points lying around, pick up Mitchell Corp.’s addictive puzzler Number Battles (a.k.a. Suujin Taisen) on DSiWare. I hear this one’s really fun!

Import: Japanese Nintendo DSi XL/LL (Natural White, Dark Brown, Wine Red) & Standard DSi (White, Black, Pink, Red, Lime Green, Metallic Blue)

Buy: U.S. Nintendo DSi (White, Pink, Black and Blue)

WarioWare: D.I.Y. coming March 28th

WarioWare D.I.Y., the WarioWare DS title that empowers you to create your own microgames about Golgo 13 and dragon punching Ken’s wife, finally has a North American release date: March 28th, 2010, almost a full year after its Japanese debut. Its complimentary WiiWare game for playing the microgames on a big screen, WarioWare D.I.Y. Showcase, is also slated to hit in the first quarter of 2010.

A quick game recap for newer Tiny Cartridge readers: WarioWare D.I.Y. gives you the tools to create graphics, music, rules, and even comics for microgames. It’s a neat app that’s already been abused to create dozens, if not hundreds, of perverted mini games in which you grope and poke anime girls in vulnerable positions (there’s even one for Hachi Koi’s Kurumi floating around somewhere!).

Two interesting Japanese DSiWare puzzlers coming to the West

Scarcely two days after I spurned JC for predicting that Nintendo would bring its DSiWare games based on Japan-only releases to the West, Nintendo revealed it is doing just that. So, yeah, what do I know.

Australia’s ratings/classifaction board put up a listing for Suujin Taisen Number Battles, the Chotto version of Mitchell Corp.’s 2007 puzzle-battle game Suujin Taisen (trailer above). From what I hear, the original was addictive and fun, and the DSiWare version supports two-to-four-player online matches.

The Australian organization also lists Wakugumi: Monochrome Puzzle (Kakonde Keshite Wakugumi no Jikan in Japan), another Mitchell puzzler. This one looks like the spiritual successor to Polarium.

With these two planned for Australia, it’s very likely they’ll travel further West to the States and Europe soon. Perhaps we’ll see other first-party DSiWare excerpts from Japan-only retail games then, like Card Hero Speed Battle Custom and Kuru Kuru Action Kuru Pachi 6.

New DSiWare, Art Style games →

Nintendo of Japan announced several new games and applications coming to its digital download service for the Nintendo DSi this Wednesday (January 28th), including several “excerpts” from existing puzzle titles and two new Art Style releases.

Art Style: PiCOPiCT (500 Nintendo Points) combines Picross with falling blocks and Nintendo franchises. It also features chiptune tracks from YMCK!:

Art Style: Somnium (500 NP) features slide puzzles:

Chotto Panel de Pon (500 NP): Panel de Pon, or Planet Puzzle League, without multiplayer support.

Chotto Suujin Taisen (500 NP): Based on a Mitchell Corp.-developed puzzle-battle game that never made it to the States, but received positive import impressions. Includes WiFi support for up to four players.

Chotto Asobi Taizen: Jikuri Trump (500 NP): Bits from Clubhouse Games, including Blackjack, Poker, and more. Features local multiplayer, but no online.

Hobonichi Rosenzu (500 NP): Map application for train/metro routes in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Fukuoka, Nagoya and Sapporo. Users can search for stations and routes, as well as add bookmarks, notes, and photos to the map.

DSi Solitare (200 NP): Solitaire, Klondike, and Spider with cat shapes on the cards!

DSi Clock: Slide Show Type (200 NP): A clock using photos taken with the DSi. Also has alarm/sleep functions — you can even record your own alarm sounds! This is the first in a series of planned downloadable Clock apps.
