There’s actually a pretty nice comparison of this Hudson Soft-developed game against Nintendo’s own superb Tetris DS over at Kotaku, which also goes into why it’s so hard to find a damn copy of the latter nowadays.
This video, though, is still a nice and thorough preview for most of the game’s 20 different modes, complete with Giant Bomb commentary and AR crotch towers.
This releases on Sunday for $29.99 — possibly the first time a Nintendo-published 3DS game has debuted at that price? I hope this becomes a trend with 3DS titles…

I was going out of my way to not be interested in this game, not just because its title sounds like some supernatural plan by the Red Skull to engulf the world with block shapes, but also because Nintendo is just publishing the game, not developing it (Hudson Soft handled those duties). And non-Nintendo Tetris games, with a few exceptions, tend to be middling, if not butt.
This, though, looks very non-butt-like.

Tetris TV costume and a canine controller, handmade and worn by Irene Stone and Buster. This dog is much too impatient to stack up four lines before clearing it all — as soon as that line-piece appears, he’s all, “Eff that noise, I’m dropping this thing right now! PEACE.”
We’re on a roll with animal posts, what with Tetris Dog and Game Boy Cat! Tomorrow: Hamster U-Force.

Cover for the pirated Famicom Disk edition of Tetris, another gem from Caveman Bowl’s collection of bootleg FDS games. Tetris aficionados will recognize that while the Famicom/NES received two versions of the famous puzzler from Tengen and Nintendo, there’s no record of any commercial Tetris release for Famicom Disk.
Caveman Bowl says this plays like Nintendo’s Tetris except with extra block shapes (e.g. pieces that look like the letter U). Though it’s not as swank as the Famicom game’s box, I really like this bootleg’s cover with its tetriminos spilling out the screen and the Tetris poster in the top right corner.

The above are highlights from a Nickelodeon Magazine piece that I came up with, for the yearly back to school issue, circa 2002. Sadly, I only wrote the thing and was not responsible for the awesome artwork. You can see the full pages here (1,2)
Even after all these years, I am still supremely proud of the rather ominous-looking Principal Pong!

The team behind Hachi Koi certainly is playing up the dating sim’s only distinguishing feature — its rubenesque love interest Kasugaoka Kurumi. After months of keeping quiet about the game (it was originally slated to release in Spring 2009), Neuron Age has put up an online Tetris-style web game featuring Kurumi.
The twist with the online distraction is that instead of colored blocks, you’re managing chocolate bars. It’s kind of an offensive way too handle her figure, but that’s not the reason why I marked this link “sorta NSFW”.
See, when you clear a line, a brief audio bite plays of what’s supposed to be Kurumi eating the chocolate, but it almost sounds like… something else. And that shiver of pleasure you hear while her mouth’s full implies that’s what the people who put this game together had in mind.
And when you clear four lines at once to get a tetris, you’re rewarded with even more suggestive sounds as Kurumi tries to push as much candy into her mouth, nearly choking on the sweets. Yeah, it’s pretty vulgar.

While the game concept is interesting — collect orbs to see more of the stage, but avoid collecting too many or you’ll be blinded by light — I’m sharing this clip because you’ll see a familiar stage towards the end. I’ve never thought of that puzzler as a ruined city with collapsed buildings.

“25th Anniversary of Tetris” by SquidPig.
How embarassing! I can’t figure out if the Purple tetromino is in agony from standing upside down on her head, or in orgasmic bliss from bumping blocks with Blue.

Can’t decide if this is an awesome bracelet or just a really compelling photo, but either way, I kind of love it. If you tend to like blocks, but not Tetris blocks, there’s a flavor that’s pixels-only. If JC was a bracelet kinda guy, and I had $70 just lying around, I might get him one.

Shirt.woot’s “Some Game Involving Falling Blocks In The Style Of M.C. Escher.” Not sure how I feel about this one. I suspect it would look just like any other Escher shirt to the observer, until they got way too close.
