New Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney TGS trailer. The new 3D models for Phoenix and Layton are quite nice in motion! The whole game, unsurprisingly, looks hot.
An English-language press release for this 3DS game was found at TGS last week, implying a Western release is in the works. It seems obvious that Level-5 would consider it, what with this being the top-voted entry in the publisher’s poll for which games its fans are most excited about (Ni no Kuni for PS3, the wrong version, was the survey’s second most popular item and will come to the U.S. in early 2012).

New Monster Hunter Tri-G screenshots (click for larger images). Capcom, please find a way to bring this to the States, and integrate some online multiplayer because most of us will be playing this solo otherwise.
The more I see of this game, the more I’m convinced this isn’t a second-rate port. Did you see the long presentation Capcom held at Tokyo Game Show earlier this week for the title? It has a great segment demonstrating a lot of the customization options for the touch panel (and how you can use the virtual D-pad to control the camera, if you’re not using the Expansion Slide Pad).

Square Enix revealed that the first Dragon Quest Monsters game, known as Dragon Warrior Monsters when it released for the Game Boy Color in North America U.S. 10 years ago, will receive a 3DS remake next year.
Titled Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland 3D, the game will reportedly feature all of the monsters from DQM: Joker 2 Professional, a lineup of new monsters, new stories, and more. I expect the original’s 8-bit graphics will see a significant overhaul, too.
It’s strange timing for the announcement since Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 releases in the U.S. today!

Though it won’t let anyone try them out with actual games, Capcom is allowing Tokyo Game Show attendees to get their hands on the upcoming 3DS Expansion Slide Pad.
Most people seem to agree that it’s not the best looking piece of kit, but if you’re curious to hear about how the peripheral feels — especially if you plan to play supported games like MH Tri-G, RE: Revelations, MGS: Snake Eater 3D, Ace Kombat 3D, Dynasty Warriors Vs., and Kingdom Hearts 3D with it — I’ve gathered impressions on the 3DS Expansion Slide Pad from several sites.
Neku Sakuraba appearing alongside Sora in Kingdom Hearts 3D (Dream Drop Distance). Though Square Enix has yet to answer fans’ prayers and put out a sequel to The World Ends With You, it has plopped the DS RPG’s hero into the next Kingdom Hearts game, according to a demo shown at Tokyo Game Show.
1UP’s Jeremy Parish posted impressions of the demo:
“Neku appears as a guest character in Sora’s side of the TGS demo — though not a playable guest. Both Neku and his rival/friend/frienemy Riku team up with captured dream-monsters this time around rather than fighting alongside licensed characters. Neku’s role is more that of the Disney-world guests from previous games.
He shows up, reveals that he’s caught in a “game,” leaving him 43 minutes to win or die. Naturally, he asks Sora to be his partner but ultimately decides the tousle-haired protagonist is ‘a weird guy’ and takes off. Sora follows, riding rails in pursuit of Neku, but quickly encounters a boss battle set in a cul-de-sac of Traverse Town.”
Hoping to see Neku/Sora fanart versions of this now.

Subtitled Bravely Default app, augmented reality, and up-skirt shots. This footage was filmed off the free preview app Square Enix released via the Nintendo 3DS’s eShop in Japan. It starts off by showing the gorgeous Akihiro Hino-designed graphics in a mostly non-interactive area.
Afterward, there’s an augmented reality segment featuring the game’s primary female character asking for your help, Princess Leia-style. Naturally, people are taking advantage of this feature to look at the poor woman’s underwear.

First Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney screenshots. The new characters accompanying the professor, Phoenix, Luke, and Maya, are Mahoney, the blond girl accused of being a witch; and Jeeken, the ginger prosecutor/knight.
This Level-5/Capcom 3DS collab, which has only been announced for Japan so far, introduces a “Mob Judgment” system in which ”Phoenix goes up against a crowd of witnesses” and “witnesses may talk amongst themselves during a cross-examination”.

Instead of watching Sony’s press event last night, I decided to catch up on some sleep last night after a marathon day of Nintendo Conference posting — it’s a good thing I did, too, as judging by the tweets that greeted me this morning, the show was a bore with little game footage shown.
There are some new details about the PS Vita, though! While the system still isn’t slated to hit the West until next year, the PSP successor will launch in Japan on December 17 at ¥24,980 (i$325) for Wi-Fi model and ¥29,980 ($390) for 3G/Wi-Fi model — the latter version will require a separate data plan there with NTT DoCoMo for 3G. Oh, and this doesn’t include a memory card.
Sony also revealed that the handheld will have around 3-5 hours of battery life, depending on the screen brightness and wireless features. It’s about on par with the 3DS’s battery life, much to the dismay of portable gamers.
Here are the 26 launch window games/apps for Japan:
Resident Evil: Revelations TGS trailer (starring Rachel). Never mind this woman’s absolutely ridiculous outfit, the super gross white substance she runs her fingers across, and the idiocy of throwing her gun away after firing only three shots — what is up with her damn hair?
How can she even see out of those bangs? If she turns out to be a playable character, this is what it will look like when you’re trying to aim with the first-person view.
Some info on her: ”Rachel, a mysterious woman who appears injured, clutching her arm… She wears the same kind of wetsuit as Jill, but are they on the same team? What fate awaits this woman on the ghost ship?”
